Color me PINK

Random awesome pink heaps for the month of September.

Sometimes I wish I could just divulge the truth behind beauty in everything that has been happening to me, impart how amazing life has been since the day that I took a risk. But no, I couldn’t just yet and sometimes, it eats me up inside to just skip a beat to all the beautiful moments…just because.

Anyway, I know I have been nothing but a boring human being here in cyberspace. I wish I have more time to do all the things that I love to do without worrying about the fact that it will all come to an end someday. I wish I could have the answers now, but all I know is.. I trust Him. 🙂

“The company was founded in 1996 by Kevin Plank, a 23-year old former University of Maryland special teams captain for the university American football team. Plank began the business from his grandmother’s basement in Washington, D.C.

Plank, who got tired of having to change out of the sweat-soaked T-shirts he wore under his jersey, noticed that his compression shorts stayed dry, which inspired him to make a T-shirt using moisture-wicking fabric for athletic performance. Major competing brands including Nike, Adidas and Reebok soon followed in Plank’s footsteps with their own version of Under Armour’s moisture-wicking apparel.

By the end of 1996, Under Armour had generated $17,000 in revenue purely by word of mouth. In 1997, Plank had $100,000 in orders to fill and found a factory in Ohio to make the shirts. People began to take notice of the brand when a front page photo of ”USA Today” featured Oakland Raiders quarterback Jeff George wearing an Under Armour mock turtleneck. Following that front page, Under Armour’s first major sale came when an equipment manager from Georgia Tech asked Plank for 10 shirts. The deal with the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets opened the door to a contract with North Carolina State. With positive reviews from players, word began to spread and orders began to increase. Under Armour first made a profit in 1998 and received its first big break in the 1999 Oliver Stone movie ”Any Given Sunday”, in which Willie Beamen, played by Jamie Foxx, wore an Under Armour jockstrap. Plank sent samples of his products to the costume designer. Leveraging the release of ”Any Given Sunday”, Plank purchased an ad in ”ESPN The Magazine”. The ad generated close to $750,000 in sales, and nine years after starting the company, Plank finally put himself on the payroll.  source:

Another reason to love Mondays

09.18.12: First Hug

God has recently blessed me with another reason to love Mondays more. Apart from the fact that we all get to be off that day, it is also the day that we could spend some quality time and have dinner with an amazing family (just like mine) that I love so much! 🙂 One of the reasons why I feel blessed for having someone who treats me like Queen everyday is the gift of having a second family who cares about me and makes sure that I am well and happy each day. It is overwhelming to be surrounded by people who makes me feel special and loved, especially in times when I feel lonely because of my family. Having another reason to look forward to every Sunday helps me get through each working day. Every time I feel like I’m trapped in something or when the suffocation of stress feeds my insanity, I would just think of the awesome Monday ahead of me.

Finally went to Costco!! A heavenly place for grocery lovers like me!! 🙂

Vanilla Yogurt with Berries from ze Mom! Super sweet treat!!!

08.14.12: The Filipino in him

So I am still on cloud 9 right now (and I think this will endure until next Monday). I’ve just finished talking to my parents for 3 hours, and I must say talking to  my family is the best reward after a long hard day at work every time. Nothing will ever beat the feeling of being able to hear my Dad’s voice and talk about life and future goals, my Mom’s supportive words when it comes to my personal life,my Sister’s insanity, Remo’s uplifting statements, and jejekid Renzo’s jeje “whateverzzz” lol 🙂 I cannot help but be thankful to our big guy up there for blessing me with this amazing life. I am deeply overwhelmed now with all the opportunities that I have now, and I cannot wait for the next phase of my life where in I will cross out another goal with siblings. Sounds vague but rest assured, that journey will be told in another chapter on this blog.

Anyway, the only reason why I could survive an afternoon schedule is the fact that I could have lunch somewhere nice. But work wise, it kills me. Only because it makes me feel too relaxed at work that I would rather sit in front of my laptop. Haha 🙂

Filipino lunch…YUM!!

Filipino stuff!!!! #HeavenForMe

Liempo (grilled pork belly)

Made me feel like I was in Manila again.. NOMNOMNOM

We ordered a lot cause I got crazy. Can’t help it cause I miss Filipino food

OOTD: Pardon my stressed slash puffy face

Obviously, I bought this dress because of the back detail. Lol

Very happy and excited for October,

08.05.12: Monday Kick-Off

I hate the thought of wasting a day, especially during my days off. I like to spend my time wisely and make sure that it turns out as awesome as I hope it to be at the end of the day. One thing that helps me get to that point are the surprises that reminds me of how lucky I am to be where I am now is the person who I have now beside me every Monday. 🙂

My first time at PF Chang’s 😉

I wonder if the one Manila is as good as the one here in the States…

Chicken Lettuce Wrap / Mixed Greens with Ginger Dressing / Sesame Chicken / Shrimp Dumplings = YUMMM!

One quick fact: I used to watch college basketball since I was in high school. Though I know it doesn’tt seem apparent that I watch ball games. Haha

THE GIRL AND NEW YORK: Emipre State Building

08.05.12 – Empire State of Mind

Third stop for our awesome trip in New York last Tuesday. We did not plan anything for that day, so everything that transpired throughout our trip were  spontaneous. It started raining on our way to the Empire and it was a bit disheartening for us thinking that it might last until the evening, but as soon as we arrived outside the building the rain stopped so it was a fortuitous day for us 🙂

Hello, Empire State!

The view was very breathtaking, it felt so surreal 🙂

My favorite building in NYC 🙂

08.05.12 – Beeda ang Sarap

First part of my third NYC trip 🙂 Karen suggested that we should go to Jollibee for lunch, so off we went. In my normal world in the Philippines, I try to keep my distance from fast food as much as possible cause I’d rather eat on a table with white linens and enjoy the greatness of life in my mouth :)) But this was different, I am already away from home for 6 months, and anything that says Philippines in it excite me. I felt like a kid with a happy meal in happy land with happy food…yeah, you get the picture haha

Love 🙂

We all screamed when we saw the sign. LOL

Went to their branch in Jersey City cause its much nearer from where we were.

Half a year

Random heaps last  month – August 2012 🙂

6 months, half a year. Oh, how time flies! I must be crazy or something but I feel like time is stabbing me in the back for passing too quickly. Life has nothing but amazing, and I wake up each day saying, this is what I want and the only thing missing is my family around me. Oh well, I still have almost 7 months to make things happen. Yes?

To some, it’s just about clocking in and getting things done. But to me, it’s a journey. Cheesy as it may sound but I have never thought that I would be this happy inside this kitchen.

I am blessed to be surrounded by Professionals who has such amazing talent. People who makes each working day less stressful. I couldn’t translate into words how grateful I am to be part of this team, to work under the 21st best country club here in America and to be mentored by the best Chefs in this state.

This was how I celebrated my brother Remo’s birthday. Though I am a million miles away (in my exaggerated world), I still made sure that I would do something to commemorate his birthday. I am so happy that his birthday was on a Monday, a perfect day to pig out, shop and do some Remo-ish stuff :))
