Hello, dolls!! 🙂 I can’t believe that April is almost coming to an end!!! It has been an amazing month and I am looking forward to the amazing things that we have planned for May 2014. Though I hate to see the loveliest month of the year leave, I am excited that in 4 months I will be with my family again!!! We have planned so much for my return and aaaaaah I can’t wait to travel and be with my favorite piggies again!!
So this the continuation (sort of) of my major throwback post 3 days ago.
Maxi skirts/dresses makes me feel pretty without being too girly.
I hate”d” wearing pants. I used to wear them a lot when I was younger but everyone thought I was a tomboy or something so I had to do some MAJOR makeover and yeaaap a few years after here I am now, posting a fashion entry on my blog.
01.26.2014: 4 months
Hello, dolls!! 🙂 Before I talk about my entry, can I just say that I had the most amazing Easter/Anniversary weekend! I still can’t get over how beautiful each day was and how I wish it never had to end. I can’t wait to share them with you all and talk about the awesomeness of this past weekend— no rush though, cause Instagram and Facebook did their part already. Anyway, it’s been 3 years already since I last spent holy week with my family. I always look forward to Thursday/Friday because of Visita Iglesia, and Sunday for our Easter lunch. We do not follow a lot of traditions for Easter, but one thing that we do not miss is going to church as a family, and I am so sad that I have not done that in a veeeery long time (next year, I promise!!!).
April is one of my favorite months we get “showers of blessing” almost all throughout the month.
It’s the official start of summer and we celebrate a lot of things — anniversary of our parents, Lola’s Birthday, Holy Week, Easter, and our anniversary!
I like how April starts and ends with LOVE <3
We all woke up early that day cause we anticipated that traffic will be horrible going to Tagaytay, and it was. We were so hungry that we couldn’t wait to get to Tagaytay to have lunch so we stopped at Sta. Rosa, Laguna (a few minutes away from Tagaytay).
I can’t believe how beautiful it got there in a short amount of time — I mean I was gone for more than a year and seeing that they now have more restaurants and shops made me want to visit Sta. Rosa more! 🙂
Anyway, we went to Chubby’s Rib Shack for lunch cause my siblings are crazy about American food.
Chili Nachos with Cheese — Can I just say….yummms??
04.21.2013: 365 days
Hello, dolls! 🙂 Today, I am going to share something really special. I know this is almost a year late but just like what I always say, I like to keep some things to myself until the right time — just like this one. I can still remember all the little and big “firsts” that A and I shared together, and how cute he was each time. Like how shy he was when he asked me on our “FroYo date” –which turned out to be our “first date” as well. The time that he was so excited to get off work early and pick me up from my apartment and bring me to one of the best Italian restaurants here in Baltimore for our “first real date”. The first time he let me drive his car , first movie we watched together , first Asian restaurant we went to , first NYC trip , first month together , and the first time he said I love you — the list goes on and on and ON and everyday is just amazing with him.
You see, I do not talk about our relationship that much here on my blog, but this week is like an exception. I can’t believe that we are going to celebrate our second year anniversary in 3 days!!! It’s crazy!!! Where did time go?? I feel like nothing much has changed, only that our love for each other grew (or to make it cheesier — blossomed like the beautiful flowers of spring). We are still the crazy kids who gets too excited about food and cooking and loves to travel and talk about whatnots in the middle of the night.
Everyday is an opportunity for firsts.
I’ve always wanted a man who will make dinner reservation for us and tell me “wear a lovely dress tonight”. Lucky for me, I met a man who did that on our first week of being together (major brownie points!!).
A made a reservation in one of the most beautiful restaurants I’ve been to. For our first anniversary, we went to Ram’s Head Inn in New Jersey.
But, before I tell you about the delicious food that we had, let me start with the nice afternoon that we had.
We started our day by giving each other our presents.
03.15-17.14: Third week highlights
Hello, dolls!!! I am baaaack ,not that I was away for too long or something. But yeah, I am just too happy that I get to update my site tonight after a very awesome work weekend. In 9 days, I will be here for 2 months (what?already?) and I am going to talk about my third week just now (yikes). Just like what I always say, “I’ve been incredibly busy” . In the midst of my crazy-busy-happy life I am still able to do a bit of traveling, EATING and shopping — what else can I ask for?. I can say that as of now, I’ve got everything that I need. It’s still pretty hard to say this, but I am starting to realize that things are not always pink and pretty and how I want them to be. Sometimes, it’s better and bigger and it could take time to accept and see the beauty in things, or at least I think that’s how it was when it came to believing that distance should not hinder me from being who I want to be.
Our Mondays are always crazy-fun. We always try to go to places and EAT awesome food.
This Monday, however, has got to be one of the bests. We were able to accomplish a lot of things and celebrate 3 cultures!
First Stop: Pho’ 98 in Glen Burnie.
Glen Burnie is 30-45 minutes away from us, and we only go there for 2 reasons — Roger and Frances or to go shopping. We did both that day, but it was more for the couple that we love and their wedding 🙂
Perfect for the very cold weather that we had that day.
Broth was very light and flavorful. The noodles were good,
If we are to compare it to the Vietnamese restaurant in Towson (which is 10 min away from us) we would say that is better. But Pho 98’s is good enough to keep our tummies happy.
Hello, dolls!! 🙂 It’s officially spring, my favorite season!! It’s crazy how the nicer weather comes with spring flu virus. Yup, I caught it! I’ve been sneezing and sniffing since yesterday and boy is it hard to be sick when you are alone. All I really want to do now is to cuddle with my Mom.I always find myself wanting to be snuggled up in bed with her when I’m sick. She is soooo soft and her arms and legs are “pillow like” lol.
So today I am going to make you hungry. My afternoons here in Baltimore are different — no rooftop, no afternoon cooking for the family, just me time usually. In the midst of my crazy fast paced life, I can’t help but be excited for my Dad’s 50th birthday!!! I can already smell home and feel the warmth of being surrounded by my family. Don’t get me wrong, I love it here! I am loving every minute of it and I wouldn’t have my life any other way BUT home is home.
Let me share with you some of the things that I cooked for my family, especially my parents, before I left MNL 🙂
Milk Shake x Grilled Cheese Afternoon
Aside from me missing home, today is “National Siblings Day” so it is just perfect to write something about the awesome moments that we’ve had with the food that I made form our kitchen 🙂
Come tooooo Mommmah
BACON x tomato x cheddar cheese
Hungry yet? I HAVE MORE!
03.11.14: Picture Perfect Kind of Day
Hello, dolls!!! I am so ecstatic right now, April is just amazing to me. First and foremost, A and I are just 12 days away from celebrating our second year together and I just can’t sit here and hide my excitement cause I know it is going to be ah-mah-zing! Second, I am only a few months away from hugging my family again!!! I can’t wait to travel with them again and be crazy with the sibs again. Lastly, I just accomplished something for school yesterday!! It really is happening!! One of the things that I promised myself when I got into Culinary school is to study abroad — and I am finally a sheer month away from crossing that off my list! 🙂
Read my post about our awesome lunch in Duke’s Grocery here – http://riannagalvez.wordpress.com/2014/04/07/washington-dc-dukes-grocery/
It’s been a while since my last outfit post. I mean, let’s face it friends, I am not too good at it. LOL
But yeah, I will tryyyyy my very best to make each post worthwhile.
If there is anything that I can’t give up from my closet, that would be this H&M jacket.
I remember it as my first splurge after being here for only a week 2 years ago. I just can’t help it, the soft pink color and the gold buttons (I have this thing about gold buttons).
03.11.2014: FOURever plus 1
Hello, dolls!! 🙂 Today has got to be my most laid back Sunday here in Baltimore. Weather was too beautiful that I wish A was off today so we could be out on the porch chilling. I find myself falling asleep on the couch several times today, I am pretty beat I must say. The past 6 weeks has been a roller coaster ride, and now things are slowing down a little.
Yesterday, I witnessed LOVE and COMMITMENT happen right before my eyes. The two people that A and I love were joined together by God in Holy Matrimony. I am so glad that A and I are a part of it. I am going to save all the cheesy details about them – us – and the wedding next time (with photos included!). But let me tell you upfront that it is such a blessing to be part of each other’s lives. I am dedicating this post to the people who made “us” possible for A and I.
Food is our common denominator.
First time we all hung out, first time we all drove an hour away from Cockeysville, and the reason why we are all in this State — food has always been there for the 4 of us.
Double Date in DC <3
I love how there are a lot of awesome restaurants in DC. It’s always a treat for A and I when we go.
