NJ Diaries: Spring

Hello, sweets!!! Happy (almost) New Year!! Only two and a half days left to make 2014 memorable, are you ready for 2015? I can’t believe that the new year is literally right around the corner. I feel like I still have tons of things to do before I kiss 2014 goodbye. This holiday week has been really beautiful, I can only thank God for blessing us with time to see family and friends during this wonderful season. It’s been really hectic and crazy for A and I since thanksgiving, and I remember looking forward to to this week when he was at the peak of his 70hr schedule.

We spent the past week away from Baltimore — a much needed vacation for the both of us.

DSC_0646A

We spent 2 days in New York and a couple of days in New Jersey, it was the perfect way to celebrate this holiday season.

Since I am still behind my posts, I am going to share something that happened not too long ago in New Jersey. Continue reading “NJ Diaries: Spring”

24: Birthday Dinner

12.01.14: Il Mio Amore

Hello, sweets!!!! 🙂 Merry Christmas!!!!! I am a bit late but I know that the spirit of Christmas is still alive in every part of us. We are only a few days away from welcoming 2015
(whuuuuut!?!?!? already?!) and as my way of thanking you all my dear readers, I will post 2 special entries before the end of the year.

The past 2 months has been very eventful, and I can only thank the my big guy up there for all the blessings that I have received. I may be away from my family for all the joyous moments that happened in my life, but He never failed to make me feel their presence in all different ways. One of the biggest blessings that he gave me is A —- my constant source of happiness.

Before we move on…read about my previous posts about my 24th birthday

Since our November and December are already planned out for work and special events, we couldn’t really go somewhere out of Baltimore for my birthday. Despite of that, A still managed to make me feel like we are away by taking me to a place that he knows I love.DSC_0256AA

It was love at first sight I must say, when A took me to Charles Street for lunch. I told him that the area is unique and that it makes me feel like I am away from Baltimore.

It must be the hill like road…or the beautiful buildings and unique looking stores.

DSC_0230A

I really appreciate it when A plans our date. He is really great in choosing the perfect place to take me to.

For my birthday, he chose this 20 year old Italian Restaurant. Sotto Sopra

12.2013: Memories at home

Hello, dolls! 🙂 Happy Christmas Eve!!!!!!! Aaaah another year of spending the holidays away from my family, but thank God this year is not going to be sad or anything because I have A’s family with me. I sometimes feel guilty when I overlook the sad part of being away from home, I feel like I am cheating.

I miss home… I miss all our December traditions. I know it’s too much to ask, but sometimes I wish I have both.

The food that I make at home helps me remember all the good moments that I had with my family.

Summer’s Produce

Hello, sweets!!! 🙂 5 days until Christmas….are you all ready?? 🙂 Aaaah I can’t wait for my super long weekend (literally!) A much deserved break. I wish my family is here cause I know it would be perfect to spend my free time with them. A lot of things can remind us about Christmas, for me I can think of 5 right off the top of my head. One of which is food, and I swear, as we draw closer to Christmas Eve and Christmas Day I am already starting to get worried about my game plan because I know it will be non-stop eating for me!!!!

DSC_0060A

Summer is the perfect time for my smoothies. Everyone who is close to me knows that I could drink a 12oz smoothie in just seconds!

DSC_0055A

I am very particular with the smoothies that I drink. I only like fresh fruits and natural sweetener.

This summer, I was able to experiment with some of my favorite fruits and beat the heart with a nice homemade healthy cold smoothie!

And of course, my trusty pink blender was there to help!

24: Happy Birthday Girl

11.29.2014: 24 is awesome

Hello, sweets! Ahhh…the past few days has been crazy stressful for me. I am blessed with a challenging situation that I know will make me a better worker. Times like this I am happy that I have this blog to let my feelings out — to unwind, to remember all the great things that happened in my life, and forget about all my miseries.

I do not have a lot of birthday posts like the previous years. In fact, I only have 3 this year. My birthday was eventful and I can honestly say that 2014 has brought me a lot of highs and one major sad event that will never make me forget this year.

DSC_0221A

A knew that I will not feel a 100% complete on my birthday because I am away from my family. But despite of that, he still made me the happiest birthday girl!

The thing about A, since he knows I don’t have everyone that I grew up with and need here by my side, he tries his best to be all that.He is super amazing!

DSC_0226A

A knows I NEED to have a delicious slice (or more) of cake for my birthday. So the perfect fiance went to one of the best pastry shops here in Baltimore and surprised me on my birthday with a DELICIOUS mango and chocolate mousse cake.

I love it when A goes behind my back to surprise me! haha Continue reading “24: Happy Birthday Girl”

Of Seeing Old Friends

7.7.14: College (also) never ends

Hello, sweets!!! 🙂 We are only 10 days away from Christmas and aaaaah I can’t wait until this week over so I can spend 2 days with A without thinking about work and this busy holiday season..especially for food industry workers like us. After 9 days,A and I were finally able to spend a decent day together…oh how I miss Mondays with him, Mondays where in we do not worry about time and having to wait for another week to eat lunch and dinner together in one day.

Over the summer, I was blessed to see an old friend again. I do not have a lot of people that I’ve known for a very long time here in the States. So every time I get the opportunity to see someone I know, I make sure that I make it happen.

DSC_0245A

Charles, my college friend lives in California. So when he told me a couple of weeks before July 7 that he is going to be in DC. I made sure that A and I will have the afternoon saved for him

DSC_0246A

We did not really plan anything for that day. I just wanted to see an old friend and catch up. — be reminded of home again.

Everything that we did was spontaneous. Especially when visited The National Portrait Gallery. Continue reading “Of Seeing Old Friends”

Day Time Spring Cooking

Hello, sweets!! It’s December again, the most wonderful time of the year for everyone, but for A and I… it’s the most exhausting time of the year! I am starting to feel the sappy aura of Christmas here again and the huge difference between December here and in Manila. December here does not feel like December.Everyone wishes for a white Christmas, but with Christmas comes COLD. Cold weather for everyone and the cold lonely feeling for those who are away from their families…like me.

At home, I always look forward to my birthday because I know after that everyone will make it a point that we will be complete for dinner every night for the month of December. December is the ultimate family month for us, but now…. as much as I want to, I would rather cross out dinner on my daily routine. The first week of December was pretty nice because A’s parents were here, I wish they could stay longer. My motivation for the coming days is Christmas Eve and Christmas Day! I can’t wait to go to New Jersey and spend time with the family!

DSC_0323A

I am starting to miss A…and how we could have lunch together at least 3 times a week. Lately, I am lucky if I get to see him in the morning.

So tonight, I want to remember all the sweet apartment lunch dates that we had during spring.

When life was still warm and lovely.

Back when I had extra time to go through our cookbooks and try at least one recipe every week. I, of course did something from the Milk Bar cookbook. Continue reading “Day Time Spring Cooking”

24: Birthday Brunch

11.29.2014: Hello, I am 24!

Hello dolls!!!! 🙂 As promised, here’s an entry about my 24th birthday. Life got extra exciting after I turned 24. How I wish I could have more hours in a day so I can finish everything that I have to do. The OCD in me is telling me that I should just keep on going…no stopping! But my fun-loving self is telling me to give my body a little break cause it is starting to get exhausted. Aaah how I wish time could freeze…even for just a day.

So I started the first page of the new chapter of my life with so much life. I think it is safe to say that we get rewarded equally by the amount of responsibilities that we face. That’s why I keep on reminding myself that I should embrace everything that comes my way, not complain. 353 days until I turn 25 but there are days wherein I feel like quarter life crisis is knocking on my door early. Haha Oh well, I have 353 days to make each day of my 24th year on earth memorable 😉

DSC_0223A

The eve of my birthday I can honestly say that I was not 101% excited about my birthday. I knew both A and I had to work all night so my excitement level was only 100….annnd I am away from my family so it was hard to be ALLLLL the way happy.

But waking up to a beautiful morning made me realize how God can bless us with the happiness that we deserve in different ways.

I know how blessed I am because of A and our family here. I was greeted by A as soon as I woke up and a table filled with presents and one of my favorite things to receive on special occasions…balloons!

It must be a challenge for A to pull off his surprise because I can be pretty nosy when it comes to my birthday and our anniversary (include Christmas as well! haha). I am very blessed to have a man who would wake up early to surprise me.

DSC_0191A

Since we only had the morning to celebrate, we decided to go out for brunch.

Not a lot of restaurants close to where we live serve brunch on Saturday so I asked A to choose where to go.

I have to commend him for always knowing where to take me. This is one of the best restaurants I’ve been!!! And I’m sorry if I have to keep it a secret for a little while 🙂 Continue reading “24: Birthday Brunch”

NJ Diaries: Asian Life

Hello, sweets!!! 🙂 In a couple of hours I will be celebrating my first bridal shower!!Aaaah I am so excited!!! So the past 2 weeks has been really fun for us here at the apartment because A’s parents are staying with us. I get really happy when we have company over because I am used to a house filled with craziness (4 kids doing silly stuff and parents trying to keep it together haha). —– okay, I did it again! Things got out of hand here (in a good way) so I was not able to finish this entry on Friday. I thought it’s still a good intro so whatevs… it is what it is as my MIL likes to say! haha

So I had an amazing and unforgettable weekend. I can’t believe that I am officially a bride to be!!!!!! Again, I can’t wait to share with you all about my breathtaking bridal shower but for now…let’s do summer posts first!

DSC_0625A

A in his zone.

Instant noodle heaven. Though I do not allow him to eat more than 2 packs every week, cause it’s not healthy! haha

DSC_0264A

I am blogging about this now because the in laws are here. It reminds me of the days that we would drive up to New Jersey to spend time with them and get away from all the craziness here in Baltimore. This year, we discovered a new “to go” place for us. Asian City Restaurant, one of the best Chinese restaurants we’ve been here in the US.  Continue reading “NJ Diaries: Asian Life”

The Milton Inn

Hello, dolls! Hello, December!!! <3 Aaah, can you believe it?? It’s the last month of the year!!! So I had a very lovely birthday weekend, thanks to A and our families for giving me a memorable 24th birthday! 🙂 This weekend has reminded me of how blessed I am and how beautiful life is. It’s no different from how I feel everyday, but this weekend was major! I can’t stop thanking Him for everything, because I know I wouldn’t get to this point in my life without Him.

Anyway, so I still have a gazillion things to post before my awesome birthday weekend. So I will work on my throwbacks and squeeze in my birthday posts once in  a while ( I mean you know the drill, right? haha). Since I am still gushing about my birthday dinner with A, I thought of working on an entry that is quite similar to that — date night with A!

I am very fortunate that I have a man who would take me out on special dates even though we are not celebrating anything in particular.

We are celebrating life as we like to put it.

The Milton Inn is a well known restaurant here in Baltimore. It is a 274 year old fieldstone building, so imagine my face when A and I walked in. It was gorgeous and everything reminded us of BCC. From the food to the service and the decors. Continue reading “The Milton Inn”

Hello,24!

Hello, sweets!!! 🙂 I am officially 24!!! I feel like the past year went by really fast! I have a vivid memory of my 23rd birthday celebration, I feel like it was only yesterday when my family and I were all gathered at Relish for my birthday dinner. I am going to take quick break from my throwback posts today. I have so much joy in my heart right now and I know there is no better way to express my gratitude to the people who made my 24th birthday memorable but to put my feelings into words…especially to my loved ones from the other side of the world who made sure I will not feel the distance of being away from them.

DSC_1235AB

Today, instead of my usual thank you post.. I will enumerate 5 things that made my birthday PERFECT 🙂

DSC_1221AB

1. Family Time

This is my second birthday away from my family and just like how many of you would imagine, it’s hard. I get sentimental days before my birthday and spend my nights wishing I have my Dad close to me. Thank God for technology because I was able to Facetime with my family right at midnight. Filipinos are all about birthday salubong and I am so happy that I got to welcome my birthday with my family!!!

They had a party for me with all my favorite birthday dishes. Mama did a great job in making our dinner table look amazing again!! I wish I was home to eat with them all…to eat a huge serving of Mama’s pesto…a bowl of spaghetti…a piece of chicken..and a slice of the avocado cake that they got for me!!!

It was the 2nd time my family did that for my birthday, and I wish we do not have to spend more of my birthday away from each other!!!

2. Happy Birthday!

This year’s birthday greeting were all heartwarming. I received messages from people I did not expect to hear from. I love reading long messages, and greetings that has a little touch of love.

I know I am a bit slow but I promise to respond to all of you before my bridal shower 🙂

3. Surprise!

A did everything to make my 24th indelible. I am the luckiest and happiest birthday girl ever because I have an amazing fiance who will do anything just for me to have a smile on my face all day. The effort of waking up early and keeping things a secret from me (which is always a great challenge for him haha!) made my heart melt. He pulled everything off perfectly and I can honestly say I couldn’t have a more flawless birthday!!

4. Happy Tummy!

Since A and I have to work until late on my birthday, so we made sure that we will have a lovely brunch celebration with our family here. A suggested that we go to this beautiful brunch place and it was the most perfect birthday brunch place!! We all had a great time and everything was exceptional!!!

Aaaaah I can’t wait to share everything with all you soon!!!

5. 24

I did not have all day to celebrate my birthday with A.. I was away from my family..and I had to endure a long day at work. But believe me when I say, I had a perfect 24th birthday. I wouldn’t have it any other way. All the love that I received on my special day is more than what I could ask for.

I am sending everyone my love and kisses for making me the happiest girl yesterday!!! I am claiming 24!!!!! <3

xx
