Hello, dolls! Hello, busy month. In my previous post, I mentioned that August is such a busy month for me because of all the parties I got invited to. I forgot to remind myself that I also have to start getting things settled for our big trip this year. Two months and I can officially take a break! It’s a much-needed one especially with everything that’s been happening lately. I feel like every time I solve one problem, two more come up so yeah…it’s been pretty heavy for me lately, emotionally.
Whenever I want to get lost in time, I look at my previous adventures, especially the ones with A. Our trips remind me of all the things we have accomplished. People close to us know that ever since we decided to start our own family, we have been really serious about investing in our future. So that involved making wise decisions and choosing the right time for vacations. My husband A and I know that all these will pay off — and we are already seeing the fruits of our labor with baby A!
To celebrate our anniversary, we decided to go to Chicago for a long weekend. I was about 6 months pregnant that time so it also felt like an early babymoon.
A and I did not know that he could get the night off, so we booked the 8PM flight leaving Baltimore to Chicago. As it turned out, he was able to leave work at 2PM! I wanted to rebook our flight so baaaad but it would cost us more than what we really paid for (I have the Southwest card now so I am not afraid to rebook anymore lol). Anyway, we had a couple of hours to spare before our flight and since we were not getting to Chicago until 10, so we had to eat dinner at the airport. My picky pregnant self couldn’t decide where to get food from so I had this disappointing “Asian Chicken” wrap from Leann Chin.
We stayed at the Doubletree by Hilton Chicago Magnificent Mile. It is the best location if your plan is to go places downtown! We were walking distance to a lot of great landmarks and restaurants.
First order of business, BRUNCH! My hubby A is all about Irish/British things or anything European! He lived in Ireland for 3 months less than a year before we met. He told me lots of stories about his life and most especially the foods that he ate. We decided to walk around the neighborhood to look for a restaurant. When we saw D4, we knew it was going to be awesome!
Started my day with a mocktail.
A’s bloody mary looked sooo delicious.
Salmon Benedict
Full Irish Breakfast
A was so happy with his Full Irish Breakfast. We were both most excited about the black pudding and it did not disappoint.
My salmon benedict was the bomb! The hollandaise was really good which I loved so much.
Delicious housemade jam.
When you ask your husband to take a picture of you “brunching”.
We definitely had a great time at D4! The restaurant was very busy for brunch which made us feel we made the right choice. The menu looks amazing! We will definitely go back for dinner on our next trip to Chicago.
The Navy Pier is a must see when in Chicago. A and I enjoyed walking along the pier. The beautiful skyscraper and clear blue water definitely gave me the much-needed relaxation that I’ve been yearning for.
I told myself I will definitely go back to Chicago with baby A after I saw this.
The Centennial Wheel was closed for renovation so we did not get to experience it but I definitely look forward to trying it next time! Though I must admit, I will probably freak out once we reach the top because I am afraid of heights. So why am I thinking about going? The VIEW! I saw pictures and they all look breathtaking. Don’t believe me? Google “Centennial Wheel view” 😛
Happy 4 years to the love of my life!! <3
Navy Pier photo roll coming right up!
Chicago
The theme of baby A’s room is “pirates & ships” so when we walked by this pirate ship and I told A he should take a picture so we can show our boy someday.
Chicago Harbor Lighthouse
Still trying to teach my husband how to take pictures with less distraction in the background #facepalm
I mean, look at this picture I took of him (insert shrugging emoji here).
Our first day in Chicago was very calm. Usually, we are running around trying to get to 3 places every 2 hours. We decided to take our time and enjoy our long weekend appreciating all the beautiful city architecture.
Eataly is a great place to visit too when in Chicago. They have one in New York and WE LOVE IT! It’s a little chaotic when we went but it surely made us hungry. For my afternoon snack, I got the yummiest Nutella crepe! I can definitely say I had the happiest baby belly that day.
Walking back to our hotel so I can put my feet up before we go out again.
I think I know what I want to eat this weekend — NUTELLA CREPE! Anyone with me??
Perks of having a tall husband? His arms are long enough to be a selfie stick LOL!
xx

That Full Irish Breafast looks about the same as the Full English Breakfast I had in London last month! Report #112 on my blog. That salmon Benedict looks awesome.
Just read some of your Scotland posts!! I am going to read more later. Just booked our trip to London this fall! 🙂
Ah! I also reviewed some London restaurants. You might want to check those out before you go. If you like Indian food that restaurant Gunpowder was great!
