Things To Do in Philadelphia

Hello, dolls! Hello, last day of July! My last post was a little heavy so I am going o lighten it up a little bit this time. Can you believe August is right around the corner? Last full month of summer break before our new normal begins. Little A is going to start school in September and I am more excited than him I feel like. I am coming up to the conclusion of going back to work, so there will be A LOT of adjustments for us in September. One of my goals, before we go crazy busy, is to make the most of this wonderful summer break I got with Little A and baby C. We have a couple of out-of-town trips planned in August and the packing loving Mommy in me super excited!

One of my favorite cities is Philadelphia in Pennsylvania. It’s a little over an hour away from Baltimore so the drive is not so bad. There are plenty of things to see and great restaurants to try. I posted some of our favorite restaurants a couple of weeks ago now let me share our musts when in Philadelphia.

WHERE TO STAY IN PHILADELPHIA: Embassy Suites by Hilton Philadelphia Center City

DSC_0734-1A

We stayed at the Embassy Suites by Hilton Philadelphia Center City. It is walking distance from Philadelphia’s City Hall, Logan Square, and Love Park. Our room came with free breakfast at TGIFriday’s in the hotel and happy hour which was awesome! There is nothing more than I love than food perks 😛

We booked a one-bedroom suite which was gorgeous! The room was very spacious and perfect for our little family. The kitchen area was very helpful for cleaning Little A’s bottles. It was a corner room with a beautiful view.

THINGS TO DO IN PHILADELPHIA:  Skyscraper Sightseeing

Comcast Center

One of the most beautiful buildings I’ve ever seen. The all-glass tower made me feel like we were in New York! Philadelphia’s architecture is a mix of traditional and cosmopolitan. I like how you can walk past the Comcast Center and feel like you are Carrie Bradshaw on your way to meet the girls and then see the city hall at the corner and feel like you are back in the 1950s.

Other interesting buildings to see:  National Museum of American Jewish History, Cira Centre, One Liberty Place.

Things To Do In Philadelphia: Visit Philadelphia Museum Of Art

Philadelphia Museum of Art is a must-visit not only because of the art collection. The picturesque building that overlooks the city of Philadelphia is one of my favorite spots. Especially for picture taking! 😛

Things To Do In Philadelphia: See Rocky!

If you are a movie aficionado then you would know about Rocky and the famous steps. It is one of the most popular spots in Philadelphia that everyone wants to see. Rocky’s statue is right below the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

GETTING AROUND IN PHILADELPHIA: Hop On Hop Off Tour Bus

I am a big fan of Big Bus Tours. My first experience was in Hong Kong with A 5 years ago. I love it because you do not have to worry about parking, there is no tour guide that makes you participate in something silly, and you pretty much have a structured itinerary that you are free to follow at your own pace. The Big Bus Tours bus goes to all of the must-sees in Philadelphia so it’s very worth it! Depending on the date that you go, ticket prices could be as low as $17!

THINGS TO DO IN PHILADELPHIA: Visit the city hall!

Going to Philadelphia City Hall is a free attraction. There’s a cute cafe right by the fountain so if you have kids, you can definitely let them run around the fountain or the grass area! Every corner of the building is picture-worthy, it almost made me feel like we were in Europe.

During winter, they have awesome displays and ice skating rink set up. It’s probably less crowded than Rockefeller’s skating rink so if you do not want to make the trip to New York City and deal with the crowd, Philadelphia City is a great option too!

THINGS TO DO IN PHILADELPHIA:  Visit the Liberty Bell

If you are enthusiastic about history like me, then seeing the Liberty Bell and knowing more about the declaration of independence that took place in Philadelphia is a must-do for you when visiting the city. Aside from the well put museum, Market street is close to other attractions as well. Not to mention, the cute row houses across the Liberty Bell are so cute!

THINGS TO DO IN PHILADELPHIA: Go to Chinatown!

DSC_0833-1A

Chinatown is not only a destination for delicious Chinese food. There are cute stores that sell Asian products that you can’t see in the malls or big supermarkets. I especially like to go around and see what kind of produce they have. Often times, I find fruits that I grew up eating in the Philippines.

A and I used to spend our summers working 5-6 days a week, on our feet for at least 12 hours in a 100-degree kitchen. I am really grateful that changed when we welcomed Little A, and luckily I get to have the whole summer break off. I can’t wait to go back to Philly with baby C soon and create memories in one of our favorite cities to visit.
