08.11.2014: Welcoming Change
Hello, dolls!!! 🙂 Happy hump day! I woke up today with a weird feeling about today. I’ve been telling A how we have to embrace change if we want to grow. Although it hurts to move on from some of the things that we learned to appreciate, we have to leave room for better and bigger things. So I told myself that I can’t have a weird mood all day, so I claimed that we will receive good news before the day ends, and we did!!! A and I just looked at each other with utter amazement after that phone call that we received 5 min before we left our apartment. It’s a blessing right in front of our face, and all I can say is…great things happen those who believe in Him 🙂
I love how this week started, each of us received good news and boy are we excited!!! So anyway, here’s a post that will surely help me stay warm tonight. Cause you know….thinking about summer helps me forget about the cold weather…even for just a while 😉
aside from wearing light clothes….
I also miss the abundance of fresh produce during summer.

09.04.14: Girl friends are forever
Hello, dolls! Happy #ThrowbackThursday 😉 Whew! I just got home from a challenging shift. One of the things that I truly appreciate about my job is how we can create beautiful things in just 5 minutes…amazing if you make it 10.. and breathtaking if you give us at least an hour. The nature of my job is stressful, we are always under pressure and for the past few years I have managed to not lose my temper (although this year I had a minor hiccup when my sanity gave in to the cliche and yelled at someone —- which made me feel horrible for 3 days!). Tonight I had the opportunity to work alongside my Chef, for a 7 course tasting for 5. It was very last minute! I swear it was a roller coaster ride that I am happy to be part of. If I can have more days like this, wherein I was able to exercise my creativity and be respected for the my craft… I can definitely stay away from the negative thoughts that I’ve been having lately.
So yup..just thought I’d share how my day went.
A few days ago I expressed how I feel about distance interfering with the growth of my relationship with other people.
As disappointing as it can be sometimes, I am grateful that I have these girls beside me.
A trip back home is never complete without seeing my girls. Since I only had 3 weeks in Manila to see friends, I made sure that I’ll put my girls on top of my list.
We decided to do “wine night”…you know, no more sparkling welch grape juice for us… we drink wine now. haha
Our sausage and cheese board

July 2014: Introduction to Thai
Hello, sweets! Hello, Tuesday. I am sooo excited to share our Bangkok trip and I am happy that I will get to do that this month!!! So I guess this new social media routine worked out pretty well, though I know I still have to work on responding to e-mails quickly. The cold weather is giving me mixed emotions about February, part of me wants it to fly by so we can all enjoy March’s gift — spring. The other half of me is scared because February is the month that I want results, this is the time that I want to do big things and have a clearer vision about the future — it’s about yes or no.
“Let your faith be bigger than your fear”
Before I move on to our Bangkok trip, let me do an introduction by sharing the time A and I devoted our day off to Thai Cuisine. Continue reading “Thai Cooking”
Hello, dolls!!! Happy hump day! 🙂 And happy birthday to my sister! I have an entry dedicated for her birthday but I do not want to make it all sappy so I’ll wait until her beee-day is over. Weather wise, I am not a big fan of winter. I am still trying my best to get used to it and though I like the idea of wearing a nice coat and layers of clothing, the torment that it gives me when I walk out of my apartment is unjustifiable! So the good side of it is that A and I gets more time with each other. After the busy holiday season, we can now spend more time in the morning together. We get to eat lunch together 4-5 days a week which is AWESOME!
That’s whyyyyy.. I’ve decided to share with you some of the dishes that we cooked for lunch over the summer.and a little extra to end this post.
A LOVES curry! It’s funny because I can be easily put off by the strong smell of curry. I have certain specifications when it comes to the curry that I will devour and I guess it’s safe to say that I would prefer home cooked curry.
Almost 3 years ago, Noi showed me how to make curry chicken using green curry paste. She pulled out this brand of curry paste from her pantry cabinet and as I watch her cook the curry, it reminded me of my first trip to Bangkok that involved cooking classes at Blue Elephant. The curry paste smelled the same as the one that we made in Thailand so I was pretty excited to try it. Continue reading “Kitchen Diaries: Curry”
Hello, sweets!!! 🙂 5 days until Christmas….are you all ready?? 🙂 Aaaah I can’t wait for my super long weekend (literally!) A much deserved break. I wish my family is here cause I know it would be perfect to spend my free time with them. A lot of things can remind us about Christmas, for me I can think of 5 right off the top of my head. One of which is food, and I swear, as we draw closer to Christmas Eve and Christmas Day I am already starting to get worried about my game plan because I know it will be non-stop eating for me!!!!
Summer is the perfect time for my smoothies. Everyone who is close to me knows that I could drink a 12oz smoothie in just seconds!
I am very particular with the smoothies that I drink. I only like fresh fruits and natural sweetener.
This summer, I was able to experiment with some of my favorite fruits and beat the heart with a nice homemade healthy cold smoothie!
And of course, my trusty pink blender was there to help!

Hello, sweets!! It’s December again, the most wonderful time of the year for everyone, but for A and I… it’s the most exhausting time of the year! I am starting to feel the sappy aura of Christmas here again and the huge difference between December here and in Manila. December here does not feel like December.Everyone wishes for a white Christmas, but with Christmas comes COLD. Cold weather for everyone and the cold lonely feeling for those who are away from their families…like me.
At home, I always look forward to my birthday because I know after that everyone will make it a point that we will be complete for dinner every night for the month of December. December is the ultimate family month for us, but now…. as much as I want to, I would rather cross out dinner on my daily routine. The first week of December was pretty nice because A’s parents were here, I wish they could stay longer. My motivation for the coming days is Christmas Eve and Christmas Day! I can’t wait to go to New Jersey and spend time with the family!
I am starting to miss A…and how we could have lunch together at least 3 times a week. Lately, I am lucky if I get to see him in the morning.
So tonight, I want to remember all the sweet apartment lunch dates that we had during spring.
When life was still warm and lovely.
Back when I had extra time to go through our cookbooks and try at least one recipe every week. I, of course did something from the Milk Bar cookbook. Continue reading “Lunch Menu Idea”
Hello, sweets!!! 🙂 November is almost over, I can’t believe it!!! I also can’t believe that I have not mentioned my birthday 1 million times just like how I do every year.As I get closer to turning 24, I am starting to get sentimental about being away from my family. I feel bad for A because he is doing EVERYTHING to make my birthday month amazing and sometimes I feel like I don’t show how happy I am enough because of all the craziness that we have to deal with.
I can see my Dad knocking on my door with a bouquet of flowers for me….my Mom in the kitchen cooking something delicious for my birthday lunch…my sister on the floor making a birthday banner for me… my brother Remo fighting everyone to hug me first…and jejekid, in our room to steal all of my chocolate stash while trying to come up with the perfect caption for his Instagram post dedicated to me.
I wish my family could be here…or I could be there…I wish we could all be together for my birthday again. Like last year.
This is the second birthday that I am going to celebrate away from my family, but I feel like it’s the first.
Here’s a #tbt worthy photo of us during my 10th birthday!
I do not have a lot of posts left from last year and I am happy because I am getting closer and closer to my target of starting to work on our trip to Asia by the end of the year -or- by January.
When I think of home, I remember all the times I made my family happy through food. I wish I could cook for them and spend the afternoon in our rooftop….to me that would be the perfect way to spend the afternoon of my birthday. Continue reading “Trader Joe’s Speculoos Cookie Butter Cupcakes”
07.01.14: Color me SUMMER
Hello, sweets! Yaaay! I’m finally blogging about summer this year. Soon enough I will post about our adventures in Asia 🙂 Only 5 days left until I turn 24, seriously I can’t keep up with time anymore!!! I feel like we just welcomed November a couple of days ago and now it’s almost over! So yesterday was a lot of fun! We celebrated our little buddy’s first birthday so I’ve decided to post this entry now, a day in summer where we all gathered in the apartment again to cook great food!
Since it was a Monday, A took me out on a lunch date.We wanted to try something new so we went to this quaint Cuban restaurant in Towson.
We embrace beautiful summer days by dining outside the restaurant whenever we can. Continue reading “Hello, Summer!”
07.08.14: Our New Playmate
Hello, sweets!!! 🙂 How was your weekend? Ours is just about to end tomorrow and it has been amazing… just how I expected it to be. I am still not over about my Friday night out with my favorite people here in Baltimore, and last night God blessed us with another memory to cherish for the entire week — double date night with our best friends at one of the best restaurants I’ve been!
I wish I could share to you our wonderful dinner last night now but I have waaaay too many posts that I need to publish before that so I will talk about something relevant to it instead. I am grateful that we have friends here in Baltimore that we get to hangout with during our days off. Friends that can relate to us in terms of the things that we love to eat or cook. It’s hard to find a true friend in a city that I’ve only been for less than 3 years, but Frances and Roger (and now baby Roger too) has contributed into making my life here very exciting. I love weeks where in we get to see each other more than once, A and I have the most challenging schedules ever but thank God to our best friends who are willing to hangout with us on a weekday 😉
If not doing something in the kitchen together, we go out to eat and fill ourselves up with great food.
This was taken when we met up with Peter for drinks. I just thought this is a good first photo for my entry haha
One of the things that we value as Chefs is connection. I am happy to say that at the age of 23, I’ve met a good number of talented Chefs that know me by name. It is a big thing because I know that when I get out there and try to doe something bigger for my career, I have people who could help or teach me how to get there. Hello, sweets! Hello, birthday month!!!! Aaaah I can’t believe it’s November already. My sweet fiance sent me a sweet message today telling me it’s already my birthday month. That started my day right because I love it when A remembers little details that make me happy. Anyway, the month of November makes me miss home more. My birthday is less than a month away from Christmas (and my brother’s birthday) so I always get pretty sentimental. This year, I will be missing holidays at home…again. Good thing, I have memories from last year’s festivities with me to help me get through this year with a big smile on my face.
Yes….my life mantra.
And it’s a real thing because I really do eat cake for breakfast once in while. Haha
- Today I will share with you some of the things that I did when I was still in the Philippines. I don’t think there is no better way to celebrate this day but to reminisce of all the good things that I shared with my family over food.

05.12.14: Mother’s Day x Day of A Mother
Hello, sweets! 🙂 Hello, NJ! I have an extended “weekend” this week and I couldn’t be any happier that I spent it with great friends and my family here in Baltimore. I am blogging from New Jersey again YAY! I think it’s perfect that I write something about New Jersey and how we usually spend our “weekends” here. I am blessed that A’s family never made me feel like I am an outsider, they’ve welcomed me with love and opened their 2 homes to me when A and I started dating. I still remember the first time we took a trip to New Jersey, I did not want to go back to Baltimore. Going to New Jersey is our little piece of vacation in the middle of our crazy work life.
I love how the house in NJ makes me feel like I am not too away from home.
Anyway, I will be sharing one of the celebrations that we looked forward to this year
I enjoy baking, it’s my little break from what I normally do.I graduated with a degree in Culinary, so I have no formal training when it comes to baking though our patisserie and bread baking class helped me understand it. And at work, I am assigned on the hot station. That’s why baking excites me, especially that I am a big lover of desserts.
When I got back from my home country a couple of months ago, one of A’s surprises for me is Momofuku Milk Bar’s Cookbook! It made me so happy because now I can make some of their cookies at home.

Hello, sweets!! 🙂 Another week is about to come to an end again and here I am working on my third blog!! YAY! I know it seems like a long time from now but I plan to post entries from my recent trip back home before April 2015 (trust me, in my book this is like a month away). Anyway, today I am writing an entry for my Mom, who just celebrated her birthday a couple of days ago. As you all know, I really hate missing special occasions with my family, and sometimes I feel like I’ve been unfair to my Mom cause I’ve missed a couple of her birthdays, and have been away for Mother’s Day for a number of times already.
I know I am a self confessed Daddy’s Girl but I feel like deep down, I am also a Mama’s Girl — we all are, actually. As soon soon as we grow inside our Mom’s body, there is this special bond that we can share to anyone else but her. When I was a kid, I’ve always looked up to my Dad for doing everything for us. But as I grew older, I have also realized that my Mom has managed to do everything for my Dad, my siblings, and I. And if I can be half of the woman that she is now when I have my own family, I would be the happiest.
I do not want to end the year without posting anything for my Mom’s birthday so I’ve decided to post a little throwback of the afternoons that we’ve spent together when I was home.
Below are some of the dishes that I made this past February.
I hope you still remember my 2 blogs about me cooking something everyday until my first departure to the US this year..

04.27.14: A Sunday Well Spent
Hello, dolls!! 🙂 Hello Baltimore! I am back!!! I am back to reality…. which came too soon for A and I cause in less than 24 hours we both went back to work and endured a day in the kitchen, on our feet! Anyway, the cold season has started to make its way back and I am not too excited about it. It seems like it was only last month when I finally enjoyed the weather here. I do not like winter, and the only good thing that makes me feel good about it is that fact that I can play with layers of clothing…other than that, NO THANKS!
Fall is fast approaching and I don’t think I am ready for it yet. I just brought back summer clothes enough to get me through the entire season from my trip in Bangkok and I can’t probably use them until April! BIG YIKES! I was so used to the climate in Manila that I forgot that here, I have to deal with 4 different seasons.
Thinking about fall almost brings me back to April, when we went to Emporiyum.
It was a pretty cold day, but not cold enough to make me wear 3 layers of clothes, but warm enough to make me take off my jacket once in a while.
One of my presents for our anniversary: 2 tickets to Emporiyum.
One of my favorite food events to date! 😉 Continue reading “Emporiyum”
Hello, dolls! Hello, Manila!! 🙂 A is finally here in MNL and we are both here again, with my family, having the time of our lives. I find Manila extra amazing when A is here, I’ve lived here for 23 years and I’ve never appreciated my home country like this until A came in the picture. I now think that every place that we go to or see has something exceptional in it, who would have thought I would discover something new here after 23 years?
It has kept me wondering though, will we ever say “we miss Baltimore” while we are here? At least for A, I wonder.
So here’s a post that took place in Baltimore, our second home.
New Toy: Tagliatelle Cutter
Pasta is our to go food for dinner. We always find ourselves making fresh pasta during our day off. When Roger came for dinner one time, we’ve decided to make fresh pasta with him. YUMMS

February 2014: Of cooking for the family
Hello, dolls!! 🙂 I can’t believe that I will be home in less than 2 weeks!!! Before I left to go back here in Baltimore, I had decided that I will try to cook everyday. I know there will be some factors that will hinder me from doing this, so I added the word “try” — I have a tendency of over beating myself when it comes to cooking so I had to play it a bit safe for my sanity. So I DID, I did cook everyday for the month of February, I DID IT!
One of the things that I always do before cooking something at home is to check what we have available.
It’s always fun exciting for me to come up with something on the spot and I often see it as a “fun self challenge”.
My Dad and I were hanging out on our rooftop one day, and I decided to whip up something quick for him for his afternoon snack — Filipinos eat 5 meals a day so yeaaap.
All of these ingredients that I have on my board are in our fridge.I love impressing my Dad with delish left over meals.

02.08.14: Moshi Moshi!
Hello, dolls!! 🙂 Happy Sunday!! It has been another exhausting work weekend and I am so glad I will be embracing Monday in less than 12 hours!!!! So my mind is preoccupied with anything relating to the big W next year…and I am guessing it is going to be like this for the next 9 months (AAAAH save me). I promised myself not to be the capricious about the entire thing, but I guess it is common nature you know? To sleep with one thought in the head and wake up with a brand new one the next day. So maybe, it is safe to say that I am driving myself…nuts. Haha
Anyway, so I was able to cross off something on my list and that is to let my favorite girls know about their importance throughout the entire process, and their participation. I wish I could have asked them personally, but yeah…my life is so awesome right now, God reserved something exciting for me instead. Since today is family day, let me share with you a post about the girls that I consider family.
I hosted a pre-Valentine’s day dinner for the girls. And as usual, we can’t not have a theme. I chose Japanese cuisine so I can practice on my sushi skillZ (yes with a Z haha) AND so we can play around with fun outfits..
We’ve decided to go for “Japanese Street Style” as our peg for the night, you will see our outfits later on but yeah…it was so much fun to be extra weird with my favorite girls! <3

02.14.14: Home Is Where The Heart Is
Hello, dolls!! 🙂 Today is Sunday, so it’s family time. Though I am gazillion miles away from my family, I try to do little things that would remind me of our awesome family days together, one of which is to share them through this blog.
Valentine’s day has always been a family thing for me, I’ve never really enjoyed it with another person until A came into my life. For the past few years, my Dad would always make it special for my sister, my Mom and I — balloons and bouquets of flowers are always present in our home during Valentine’s day. So just imagine, how happy I was to be able to wake up in Manila for Valentine’s Day this year. I know it’s crazy that I am only posting this now, but whatevs…you know how this blog and normalcy rolls, they just couldn’t meet together. HA
This year was slightly different,
3 red roses and red balloons from my Dad and brothers AAAAAND a sweet handwritten letter all the way from Baltimore from my love <3
Valentine’s Day dinner table
And Valentine’s Day outfit…
all after the jump 😉

Hello dolls!! 🙂 Happy Friday! The past week has been pretty stressful, the (hashtag) BTB problems has finally kicked in. How did I go from more than a year to less than 11 months? Anyway, today I will be sharing with you another party that I hosted, this time in our apartment. I’ve learned to love hosting parties after my Dad’s great decision of building a rooftop for us. Though I have not hosted any gatherings for the past month because of work, I am looking forward to the next one that will come my way (and I am sensing that it will be in Manila! yay). So just imagine my delight when one of my good friends, Frances, came up to me and asked if I can host her Bachelorette party? I was so excited that I was able to finalize the menu in less than 24 hours haha. I only had less than 3 weeks to get the party together and I am glad that it was a success.
We had so much fun that uhh…I am sharing 50+ photos!! Yupppp.. I got a little crazy haha
So once again, I tried to be Martha Stewart and made most of the decorations and all of the food
the other bridesmaids and I decided on the theme “welcome spring” (cause we were all just yearning for it) and I was supposed to do the party at our backyard but UHHHH it rained! It was pouring so I had to bring the party inside.
Gotta let them know!

03.23.2014: Welcome to our apartment!
Hello dolls!! 🙂 How have you been? Another busy weekend has come to an end (and when I say weekend, I mean Sunday-Tuesday). It’s been a while since my last update about my life here in Baltimore. Can you believe that tomorrow, it will be my 3rd month here?? Time flies so fast, and this entry is 2 months late! HA HA
One of the things that I am loving here is…our apartment!! It’s spacious, modern, and just simply amazing. This is not an apartment tour but it could be the start of more apartment posts in the future, maybe some DIYs or housekeeping tips from a newbie like me! 😛
Independent living is not new to me, but if I could rate my first year of being independent, I would say that I was like a student learning the ins and outs of having to deal with chores on a day to day basis. Coming from a home wherein I would only have to worry about waking up and doing the things that I love to do without worrying about house chores made me appreciate the beauty of being a responsible adult.
Anyway, let me share with you our amazing experience during our housewarming week.
Here’s how we spent our “last” monthsary. A and I decided that we will stop celebrating our monthsary after our second since we now know that we have years and years ahead of us! 🙂
Late night sausage making, and to make our Friday night even better…we had wine!

Hello, dolls! 🙂 How was your Mother’s Day weekend? Mine was ahh-mah-zing! I was able to talk to my Mom which was very important. I spent the weekend with my family here, away from reality. I would love to talk about our awesome weekend in New Jersey, but this post is going to be all about the foods that we made in the apartment. I noticed that it’s been a while since I posted something that I did in our kitchen — here on my blog, Instagram and Facebook. So here I am, sharing. 😉
Great food is meant to be shared, and I wish I can send you all a bite of the things that I make but I guess posting entries will suffice for now. So here are a couple of things that we did 2 months ago, yes 2 months ago! I have TONS of pictures to sort and post and I wish I can just keep the rhythm on this blog.
One morning, I woke up and said ” I want apple bars”. Lucky for me, I have a fiance who is willing to wake up early and go to the grocery to buy my ingredients.
I love using Granny Smith on desserts! And I LOVE Granny Smith with sugar and cinnamon…I mean, don’t we all do?
