Almost There

08.24-25.14: Of weekend getaways

Hello, dolls! 🙂 Happy hump day! Aaaah what a beautiful “weekend” it has been. Usually, I would be bummed that our almost 3 day weekend is now over. But since I know that we only have 9 days left until we begin our journey to forever, I don’t think there is room for me to complain. We are getting close!!! We will be home in less than 2 weeks! Which reminds me of the time I went home for my Dad’s 50th birthday, back when it would take me more than a day to travel to the Philippines. The flight alone is already exhausting, the layover and waiting makes it even more draining so I like to have at least a whole day where in I do not have to worry about anything including packing before my loooong flight — that’s why A and I likes to schedule our trips from Baltimore after on or after Monday.

DSC_0173A

A and I 12 hours before my flight to Manila last year..brought back a lot of memories when I left Baltimore 2 years ago to go home.

Korean Spa and Everything In Between

Hello, sweets! Whew what a cold snowy week this is! It’s one snow day to another, I guess I will be waking up to the sight of snow on our porch until the end of the week 😐 Uhhh we are just so over with winter…I am seriously counting the days until it’s spring again. This cold weather (and crazy schedule) is making me eat every chocolate that I see, being surrounded with tons of chocolate here at home and at work is not helping my “bride” diet!!! (although let’s face, I have not really payed attention to my diet since December) — I just like to say it para I’ll sound like a legit bride-to-be hahaha

DSC_0755A

One of the best things about my relationship with A is our cookbook collection.

We both had a good number of books before we met each other, and our collection started growing in 2012 because we would often give each other books on special occasions. Now that we are engaged, we now call all of our books “ours”, which makes me so happy because it has always been a dream of mine to own all the great cookbooks out there.

An exceptional day is when you cross off 3 books from our wishlist.

New York: Jollibee

07.21.14: Bida ang sarap!

Hello, dolls!! Happy Sunday!!! Our third pre-cana class just ended and ahhhh I can’t believe that we are almost at the end of this beautiful journey. We had an amazing day today! Although I must say, I overslept a little haha (but hey! I deserve it after working almost 13 hours yesterday!) So we went to church and had brunch at one of the best brunch places here in Baltimore, then had a good afternoon in class. How I love Sundays like this! Earlier, I prayed for more meaningful Sundays like today this year. My heart breaks just thinking about February ending so soon…and how after the wedding our work schedules will most likely get in the way. Thank God for our pre-cana because we get to be on the same page about our relationship and important things without getting into an argument or trying too hard.

So we are just 6 days away from Valentine’s….meaning 6 days until my father-in-law turns 60! What’s exciting about it is that we will be in New Jersey the day after so I am pretty hyped up about that. A short vacation is much needed for A and I!

DSC_0672A

I have 6 days to dream about our upcoming getaway, for now I’ll blog about our New York side trip that happened over the summer.

DSC_0679A

A would often say that he wishes we have Jollibee close to us. When we are in New Jersey, he would drop hints saying we should go to Jollibee for lunch.

So when we were in New York we decided to take the girls cause they’ve never tried Jollibee.

2 buckets of fried chicken, rice, 4 large fries, 4 sundaes, yumburger, and my avocado pearl shake…. YES! When in Jollibee….YOU GO BIG! 😉 Continue reading “New York: Jollibee”

Christmas 2014

12.25.14: Merry Chirstmas

Hello, dolls! Hello, Tuesday. 3 days has passed since we welcomed February and I can already see a million posts on Facebook and Instagram about Valentine’s day (most of them are the usual highschool-ish posts about being single on Vday #ugh). So anyway, Valentine’s is something I do not really forward to every year. After being disappointed when I was still in high school…cause you know?HS Valentine’s is all about flowers and chocolates — and I am not big on receiving flowers if it’s not from my Dad so yeaaap — and oh no good Vday dates until A came in my life so yeah…Valentine’s was not in my zone for a long time. As far as I’m concerned, Valtnine’s is for my Dad and I.

So I am ALMOST done with my Holiday diary. I am pretty happy with my blogging last month because I was able to accomplish 90% of the posts that I wanted to share. This month I can finally write about our Bangkok trip which I am really excited about! 🙂

Christmas Morning

12.25.14: Merry Christmas!

Hello, dolls! 🙂 Happy Friday!! Aaaaah it has been a very long day and I am just so happy to be sitting on the couch, catching up on my show, blogging while looking at wedding stuff, and eating a hot delicious bowl of chicken noodle soup cooked by A. (so yeaaap I like to multitask!) Anyway, tonight I will clear my mind by sharing what our Christmas morning looked like this December.

DSC_0751A

I was super excited to wake up on Christmas morning.

I was motivated to wake up early that day.First because of my family that I was able to talk to, and second…the presents!!!

DSC_0752A

presents, presents, presents!

..and there were still a lot hidden behind the chairs.

Super perfect for Christmas! I am seriously convinced that I am going to wear this again for Christmas Eve this year… unless I find something just as adorbs. Continue reading “Christmas Morning”

NJ Diaries: Summer 2014

07.28.14: Long Beach Island

Hello, dolls!!! 🙂 Today is another snowy winter day and to warm me up, I am going to talk about summer. Summer as you all know, is the busiest season of the year. It is close to impossible to get a decent off from work. It makes me miss school and how I know I can get the whole summer off to spend with family and look forward to all our travels/getaways. A and I won’t let our summer to be just spent for work, we planned to go to the beach (even if its just once) and it happened! We were so happy that we were able to go to the beach with our family here.

Christmas Eve 2014

12.24.14: WISH

Hello, dolls! 🙂 Happy Weekend!! We are now on day 17 of 2015, how has your year been so far? I wonder if I can ever feel that time is moving normally, like I am not chasing after it. For the past year, a lot of great things happened that kind of wish that 2014 could be longer…you know? Like…it’s too good to end.

I like how the holidays are at the end of the year. I feel like we are being rewarded for all the hard work that we did, love and kindness that we gave, and sacrifices that we made. And at the same time, be blessed with His presence and the realization that He is with us throughout the year. Cause honestly, nothing can make us feel better than the faith that we have for Him within us.

DSC_0967A

My Christmas Eve was beautiful. We woke up in New York, talked to my family in MNL during the day, and spent the holiday with our family here in New Jersey.

DSC_0729A

This was the second time I’ve spent Christmas away from my family. But you know what’s amazing? God blessed me with another family that I can be with..without even asking for it, He gave me A and his family. Continue reading “Christmas Eve 2014”

NJ Diaries: Spring

Hello, sweets!!! Happy (almost) New Year!! Only two and a half days left to make 2014 memorable, are you ready for 2015? I can’t believe that the new year is literally right around the corner. I feel like I still have tons of things to do before I kiss 2014 goodbye. This holiday week has been really beautiful, I can only thank God for blessing us with time to see family and friends during this wonderful season. It’s been really hectic and crazy for A and I since thanksgiving, and I remember looking forward to to this week when he was at the peak of his 70hr schedule.

DSC_0649A

We spent the past week away from Baltimore — a much needed vacation for the both of us.

DSC_0646A

We spent 2 days in New York and a couple of days in New Jersey, it was the perfect way to celebrate this holiday season.

Since I am still behind my posts, I am going to share something that happened not too long ago in New Jersey. Continue reading “NJ Diaries: Spring”

NJ Diaries: Asian Life

Hello, sweets!!! 🙂 In a couple of hours I will be celebrating my first bridal shower!!Aaaah I am so excited!!! So the past 2 weeks has been really fun for us here at the apartment because A’s parents are staying with us. I get really happy when we have company over because I am used to a house filled with craziness (4 kids doing silly stuff and parents trying to keep it together haha). —– okay, I did it again! Things got out of hand here (in a good way) so I was not able to finish this entry on Friday. I thought it’s still a good intro so whatevs… it is what it is as my MIL likes to say! haha

So I had an amazing and unforgettable weekend. I can’t believe that I am officially a bride to be!!!!!! Again, I can’t wait to share with you all about my breathtaking bridal shower but for now…let’s do summer posts first!

DSC_0625A

DSC_0264A

I am blogging about this now because the in laws are here. It reminds me of the days that we would drive up to New Jersey to spend time with them and get away from all the craziness here in Baltimore. This year, we discovered a new “to go” place for us. Asian City Restaurant, one of the best Chinese restaurants we’ve been here in the US.  Continue reading “NJ Diaries: Asian Life”

The Greek Life

Cause I love anything Greek way too much

Hello, sweets!! Guess what?? We had the Friday night off again!! I can’t help but find it funny because a couple of days ago I was just gushing about our Friday date night back in Summer…and now we were able to do it again this Fall. YAY! Last night was ahmaaahzing! It was not like our Woodberry date night but A gave me new memories to cherish. what we did is somewhat related to what I will be talking about in a while…GREEK! I am so happy that I am here for the Greek Festival this year, and that we were able to go and eat delicious Greek food…..and have fun with our friends after! I  couldn’t think of any other way to celebrate our Fall Friday Date Night  than how we spent it last night.

I compiled all the Greek related photos that I have on my computer to make a decent Greek related post. A couple of days ago, I told A and his Mom that I am happy that they celebrate a lot of traditions. That we always have something to look forward to and feel grateful for each day.

DSC_1017A

The Greek Life is more than just lemons, feta cheese, and olive oil. I think one of the reasons why I am very excited to marry A is because his values are the same as mine.

DSC_0914A

To start this entry…. I will talk about me! HAHA

So I finally got a haircut after 4 months of being back here in Baltimore. I am always afraid to go for a trim (even though mah girl LC says that we should !) I’ve had my fair share of annoying “my hair is way tooo short moments” so yeaaap, it usally takes me a while to go back. haha

Anyway, so I went to the salon a couple of hours before our drive to New Jersey, and after an hour of hair treatment and a long chat with the hairdresser, I did not notice time and I was already outside the salon so no blow dry for me!! Haha The lady did not want to let me leave with wet hair so she did this for me! #LoveIt Continue reading “The Greek Life”

05.12.14: Mother’s Day x Day of A Mother

Hello, sweets! 🙂 Hello, NJ! I have an extended “weekend” this week and I couldn’t be any happier that I spent it with great friends and my family here in Baltimore. I am blogging from New Jersey again YAY! I think it’s perfect that I write something about New Jersey and how we usually spend our “weekends” here. I am blessed that A’s family never made me feel like I am an outsider, they’ve welcomed me with love and opened their 2 homes to me when A and I started dating. I still remember the first time we took a trip to New Jersey, I did not want to go back to Baltimore. Going to New Jersey is our little piece of vacation in the middle of our crazy work life.

DSC_0981A

I love how  the house in NJ makes me feel like I am not too away from home.

Anyway, I will be sharing one of the celebrations that we looked forward to this year

DSC_0180A

I enjoy baking, it’s my little break from what I normally do.I graduated with a degree in Culinary, so I have no formal training when it comes to baking though our patisserie and bread baking class helped me understand it. And at work, I am assigned on the hot station. That’s why baking excites me, especially that I am a big lover of desserts.

When I got back from my home country a couple of months ago, one of A’s surprises for me is Momofuku Milk Bar’s Cookbook! It made me so happy because now I can make some of their cookies at home.

Greek Easter 2014

Hello, dolls!! 🙂 I thank the #TBT gods for gracing us Thursday for throwbacks, the day that is “quite” okay for me to post an entry that is at least 2 months old. “Quite” cause I know I should be doing a better job in updating my page. My goal for this blog this year is to be up to date with everything and have no entries that is more than a month old wish me luck.  The amount of entries that I have yet to post is not getting any smaller, but I am getting close to bringing this page up to date so yea, I have 5 months!!! 😉

Anyway, I have always been excited about embracing new traditions and one of the things that I looked forward to when I came back here is Greek Easter. A has told me a lot of amazing things that they did over the years, and he leaves me drooling each time.

DSC_1204A

This year, I was finally able to experience it and I couldn’t be any happier! 😉

I missed their huge Greek Easter celebration 2 years ago because work got in the way, and this year, A missed having dinner with his family in the apartment because of work…again. Haha

This entry will also include a couple of snippets from New Jersey after Greek Easter.

First Anniversary: Ram’s Head Inn x Stewarts

04.21.2013: 365 days

Hello, dolls! 🙂 Today, I am going to share something really special. I know this is almost a year late but just like what I always say, I like to keep some things to myself until the right time — just like this one. I can still remember all the little and big “firsts” that A and I shared together, and how cute he was each time. Like how shy he was when he asked me on our “FroYo date” –which turned out to be our “first date” as well. The time that he was so excited to get off work early and pick me up from my apartment and bring me to one of the best Italian restaurants here in Baltimore for our “first real date”. The first time he let me drive his car , first movie we watched together , first Asian restaurant we went to , first NYC trip , first month together , and the first time he said I love you — the list goes on and on and ON and everyday is just amazing with him.

You see, I do not talk about our relationship that much here on my blog, but this week is like an exception. I can’t believe that we are going to celebrate our second year anniversary in 3 days!!! It’s crazy!!! Where did time go?? I feel like nothing much has changed, only that our love for each other grew (or to make it cheesier — blossomed like the beautiful flowers of spring). We are still the crazy kids who gets too excited about food and cooking and loves to travel and talk about whatnots in the middle of the night.

Everyday is an opportunity for firsts.

IMG_6062A

I’ve always wanted a man who will make dinner reservation for us and tell me “wear a lovely dress tonight”. Lucky for me, I met a man who did that on our first week of being together (major brownie points!!).

A made a reservation in one of the most beautiful restaurants I’ve been to. For our first anniversary, we went to Ram’s Head Inn in New Jersey.

But, before I tell you about the delicious food that we had, let me start with the nice afternoon that we had.

04.09.13: Never Too Early For a Beach Date

I am now at the stage where in I feel like I am just going to blurt out the biggest news in my life any minute now (I am pinching myself now as I type this). Something beautiful is making me happy, and when I say beautiful I mean…. the-most-beautiful-thing-that-I-have-ever-worn in my 23 (almost) years of existence. Speaking of beautiful, let me share with you a very beautiful day that we had a “few” months ago. Can I just say that I have the most loving man that a silly girl like me could ever have. I remember telling him that I wish we can go to the beach again, and before I know it he was already driving down to LBI in the middle of Spring, in a cold lovely weather.

04.08.13: More than you’ll ever know

Hi, dolls! 🙂 My soul is still in cloud 9 because of the amazing heaps that transpired during the past 3 weeks. It was nothing like I imagined it to be. A simple plan that turned out to be more than a blessing. I am holding onto something that I can’t wait to unfold next year!! Anyway, I am still surprised with how God turned around things for us last night. From an emotional roller coaster ride, to a joyful nightcap that made us even more stronger. Though my words are as vague as how my life 3 years ago used to be, I know someday, these context clues will be crystal clear as a DIAMOND <3 🙂

DSCN7912

Spring, to me, is such a lovely season. I love how the trees blossom, and how the nice breeze of air touches my skin.

I also like how I can play around with soft slash pastel colors. It makes me feel very feminine 🙂

I decided to make my outfit pop by wearing these beautiful boots that my awesome lover got me for my birthday!

Wearing something dark as an accessory for a soft colored outfit gives it a certain “strike” 🙂

04.08.13: I LOVE THEE

Hello, world!! 🙂 I am so happy that I can say that on this blog., seeing my meter go up each day and have visitors from different parts of the world makes me really really happy! 🙂 Countries that I would love to visit someday. I have a heart of a traveler, I love to experience new things and see beautiful places, and I am so happy that I was able to travel with the love of my life recently.

We both love to plan our itinerary according to the foods that we would like to try, so I feel like when I post blogs about the places I go to, I have more food photos than the beautiful sights that one would love to see. Anyway, we love going to NJ for our own piece of “vacation”. Working in the kitchen can get physically and sometimes mentally stressful, it’s a lot of fun and each day is fulfilling. We both like to reward ourselves by spending time with each other, and going to NJ for some quality time and have delicious food (which is always on top of our list).

03.28.13: Road trip with friends (3 days that I would love to go back to!)

There are things in life that I thought I would never get to experience until I’m on my mid 30’s. With the exaggeration making it sound horrible, I just had a different mentality about “the future” before. Almost 6 years ago, I thought earning 15k a month would make me happy and “wealthy”. Oh the horror of being young…and naive.  Anyway, I AM SO GLAD that someone woke me up from the horrible nightmare and made me realize that I am headed towards something bigger and better. Thank God!!

As I look at my life now, I am still on cloud 9 pinching myself trying to comprehend the fact that THIS IS really happening. “This”, this moment! I didn’t know that a small-digital-squared-shape-device could make me look at my future. Knowing that there is something permanent about my life now builds another layer of shield against anything lamentable. Just when I thought I couldn’t get any tougher in life, God hands me another blessing.

So this post is like a gazillion months late. And trust me, I’ve tried to keep my pace. But bTV has taken over my life on a different level. I spend my free time watching shows that makes me mad, laugh and excited all at the same time! And spend my busy hours daydreaming about the next episode of whichever show (haha) #exaggeration. So I am still trying to understand how I was able to watch 4 seasons of Real Housewives of New Jersey in a week. Yes a full week! And yes, I still have a life. I find myself staying up late just to catch up on my shows. And now, I’m watching Sex and the City again for the nth time. LIFE COULDN’T BE BETTER! Haha

IMG_5660

“Drive sober or get pulled over”

If we have signs like this in the Philippines, maybe drivers would’ve cared more. #MAYBE

Fact101: I love packing! I love to pack. I love the feeling that I get when I pack for the both of us. I LOVE PACKING (period). Unlike most people, I don’t complain about it. The thought of going somewhere makes me excited about packing, it’s like an addiction, sometimes I go on trips just for the sake of packing.. haha

IMG_5804

I remember going to subway with my Dad 2-3 Saturdays in a month. After we drop off my siblings in Glorietta’s “Kids at Work” we would go straight to Subway and order a sub each with a bag of lays. This occurred when I was big enough to tell him that I am already the tallest and “fattest” kid in the playground. I remember enjoying my sub and how my Dad would look at me like I’m a fat boy.

When I got to the States, a lot older from my  subway days. I tried to drift away from the sandwiches, I just felt like I was already pass that stage – me eating like a fat kid. And besides, my agenda was to try something new! I felt like subway has been in the Philippines long enough that if ever I crave for some “ummm-some” sandwich, it’ll be just there.

IMG_5805

Italian Cold Cut Submarine!!!

On a cold normal weekday, it is surprising that we were welcomed with a line outside the door. The “sub shop” is not too glamorous looking, but even people who are wearing a coat and tie are seated by the bar enjoying a sub. We were lucky that there are 4 of us so we got a booth. Otherwise, I would be seated by the bar with the chorvs feeling uncomfortable #ArtreGirlProblems

Since we already had breakfast prior to our late lunch trip to White House, we compromised on getting a full 24 inch…yes 2 feet!!! Italian Sub!!! It was divided into 4 and I swear, I would’ve eaten more, but since we are in Atlantic City, I know that I would be spending the entire day nibbling on something.

P.S. This is really really really good! And I am lucky that I have the best chorvs ever that brings me to places like this!!!

IMG_5806

I don’t know who were we fooling but a full sub was not enough for the 4 of us…

We just had to give in and order another full sub!! this time, a very delicious Cheese steak!!!

Mmm so good I can’t even!!!! And yes our subs were served with hots!! that made them even more delicious!!!

DSCN7857

A few moments after nutella crepe, hazelnut drink, a pair of shoes and a bag, we found ourselves walking towards the Boardwalk. I haven’t seen it on a daylight like this, and I must say, I appreciated it more this time.

So while waiting for our friend who is trying to win some money at the Casino, we took advantage of the nice sunny day and “bonded” with the camera.

Since I want to minimize the leftovers that we will be bringing back home, I’ve decided to make use of the ingredients that we have left.

I made a batch of crustless grilled asaparagus and portobello parmesan quiche.

I used a muffin pan and lined each hole with a parchment paper to have that “fancy” or should I say…”cutesy” feel! Needless to say, I was very happy with how this turned out, and of course, the amount of stuff that we brought home!

It was just last week when this lovely celebration happened. It’s very uncomfortable to see how this beautiful place turned into something that is very heartbreaking to see in a matter of one week. Who would have thought that something like Sandy would come along New Jersey.

Pirate cuppies!!! 🙂

Uber delish homemade cupcakes! 🙂

How awesome is this cupcake tower?:)

Yes, it was a pirate themed party 🙂

The tower when lighted up! 🙂 The candles made it extra beautiful 🙂

Before the distraught. Hello, beautiful 🙂

Hey, Atlantic City! 🙂

New Jersey: Smithville x The Historic Smithville Inn

10.20.12: Meet,Greet and Eat

Hello world! I know my page has been idle for a long time, and I am not sure what pushed me to this plight – the fact that I do not have enough time for everything, or the exhaustion that has been running through my system for the past few months. To make things uglier, I am not well as of the moment and I have been dreading it since Thursday! And let’s not forget the hurricane news that has been circulating around here. I don’t know how bad it’ll be but I hope it doesn’t ruin our Monday off. Cause that would suck big time knowing that in 4 months time, I’ll be in Manila again.

Anywaysy, here’s what transpired last weekend. We drove to New Jersey to relax and see more of what’s in the City 🙂

Spent our Sunday in Smithville! 🙂

The cutesy little houses and the entire vibe of the place made me feel like I was a smurf!! :)))

We were fortunate cause there was a car show that weekend! More attraction for us! 🙂

Rode the train with the kiddos!!! <3 🙂

Best part of our New Jersey trip! 🙂 Meeting these two cutie girls! 🙂 Erika and Julia!! <3

Had lunch in the Historic Smithville Inn

The whole place is so rich in history and beauty. I love how they kept the original facade of almost the entire house and shared it to everyone to see.

We were seated in a private room, beautifully decorated and lovely arranged. I love the story behind the room, it made me realize how blessed I am to be able to go to this place. and be with a family who has treated me so well since day 1.

Went go -karting before cake time!!! 🙂 <3

Trying not to suck at this,

Atlantic City: Continental

4th part of our awesome trip last 07.08.12 – 07.10.12 🙂

If there’s one thing that I would love end my day with, it would be dining out. There’s something about dining in a nice restaurant and eating good food that makes me realize how I love my life. I go gaga over food that makes my palettes go crazy. It puts me into a state of elation for days, and it never fails to remind me why I am very content with the decisions that I have made in my life – big or small, they all matter to me. 🙂

We headed to Caesars Palace after our shopping extravaganza! 🙂

“Steps away from the best shopping & dining in Atlantic City”

Dinner in Continental

We were supposed to have dinner in Caesars Palace’s Buffet but we got there 5 minutes later. I find it a blessing in disguise, cause this dinner wouldn’t be this awesome if we didn’t dine in Continental!

Some water thingy behind our couch. I love how the restaurant is surrounded with water, it makes you feel like you are eating in a modern beach hut or something 🙂

Beautiful restaurant indeed!

Say hello to our almost $200 dinner! Haha.

I don’t mind cashing out on food. I always think that it is one of the greatest rewards ever! 🙂

Cranberry Smash to start off my night

Wahoo Tacos

Fish tacos in soft and hard shell tortillas — I loved the mix of textures in one bite. I am addicted to tomatoes so I couldn’t let this pass, plus the salsa was definitely refreshing that it took me straight to wahoo wahoo land (whuuut? LOL )

Thai Chicken Lettuce Wraps

Just because I love lettuce wraps. :)) But anyway, this was so gooood! (Seriously, I couldn’t single out anything that we didn’t like)

Korean Pork Tacos

My little sweet and spicy tacos!! OMG I would do anything just to have this in front of me now. This was soooo good! I’m so glad I ordered this!

French Onion Soup Dumplings

THE BOMB!!! I swear this was the best dish that I’ve had that night! Cheesy French Onion filled dumplings….aaaah I NEED YOU NOW!!!! <3 <3 <3

Spinach Ravioli in Tomato Sauce for me! 🙂

Charm’s Arugula and Spinach Salad

Pad Thai

*so yeah most of the food photos are blurred because of the poor lighting and stuff like that. But whatever :))

Rose Ann’s Mushroom Flat bread.

Drizzled with truffle oil…my taste bud was dancing all night :))

Cheesesteak Eggroll

Cause the night just couldn’t be better!!! This was beyond awesome!!

BBQ Spareribs

Lovely fireplace in the middle..

Walked and shopped again at the boardwalk to burn off the calories. Haha

Inside Caesar’s Palace!!! 🙂

Gelato to end the night. Woopeeee!!!<3

Today is Monday (you know what it is).
