Hello, dolls! Hello again, New York! When I said I look forward to our adventures every weekend two months ago, I really meant it. We’ve been on 4 road trips since then and now I am working on my giant packing list for our trip to the Philippines and Taiwan. I started preparing for Christmas too since I will only have a week to get everything ready after we come back from our trip. It’s going to be a hectic month but I look forward to wearing my superMom cape all month long! 😛
If there is anything I learned about being a Mom in the past three years, it is the fact that no amount of lists can prepare me for the adventitious days Motherhood will bring my way. Perfect example? A and I planned this weekend trip to New York more than a month ago but my toddler, Little A came home with another round of germs from school on Friday so the four of us are currently sniffing and coughing like we are some cracked up boy band. Luckily, I have a list of great baby products I use whenever the kids are sick. Thanks to Big City Moms for connecting Moms like me (who are still learning) to great brands that can help make things easier.

Hello, dolls!!! <3 I am 38 and half weeks pregnant now and I am so ready to meet my baby girl! It’s funny how anxious I am to get the next phase of this journey started when I know I am also going to miss being pregnant (oh you know, just a typical day in my brain lol).
My pregnancy with baby #2 did not start well. I had morning sickness ALL DAY and felt really weak during my first trimester. When I felt better, I told myself that I have to enjoy this journey in every way I can. So I looked up activities and events that I could participate in and made sure I would give myself enough time to prepare for baby girl’s arrival. I am happy to say that I can look back at this moment in my life and know that I have wonderful memories….finally.

Hello, dolls!! Hello, birthday month!!!! <3 I am baaaack!! I may have had an extended vacation from blogging but it was all for a very important reason. My 2019 is shaping up to be extra exciting and I can’t wait to unveil the big reason for my 3-week absence.
Christmas is coming up and I can’t wait for our family to be complete again!! This will be the third time that all of us are going to be in Baltimore together and it still feels surreal to know I will kiss 2018 goodbye and welcome 2019 with everyone I love. Speaking of Christmas, I plan to spend my weekend “seriously” shopping for presents!! It’s been a crazy past couple of months and though I’ve already finished 1/4 of our list, I know there will still be so much to do…aka decorate!
As much as I want to have undivided time with my family, it is challenging to plan a lot of things for us to do because of my job. I am fortunate that I have a pretty normal schedule now so we can always try to squeeze in a weekend trip or two out of state.
For my family’s first trip to the US, I made sure I could take them to New York. It’s everyone’s dream to see New York after all! So what can a family of 7 (and a newborn) do in New York for 12 hours? Continue reading “New York On A Budget”
10.07.2014: Parisian feels
Hello, dolls!! 🙂 Aaah I can’t believe it has been a month already…our Manila trip is now another chapter to look back to. This is the 4th time that I left for the US in the past 3 years and I don’t I can ever get used to it. Leaving home is never easy, uncertainty is a killer. This time, I only have my plans and aspirations to hold on to (and if ever none of it happens–which I doubt, I push through with plan B!). So anyway, I do not want to think about the sadness anymore, I have great memories with me that I can think about until I get to be a full time sister here in the US.
Yesterday was the easiest trip to the US for A and I. No exhausting connecting flights and we did not spend 24 hours in the air, it felt like we just drove to Ilocos or something. So JFK will be our official airport when travelling to Asia, which to me is exciting because NYC is close to my heart in so many ways.
Today, let me share with you the continuation of A’s birthday celebration in New York
They had a mock set up of the cafe that was presented on the Friends TV show.
We like to pay a visit to A’s Nounas and Nounos whenever we can. They live in Bay Side which is about an hour away from Manhattan. I asked A if we could stop at this Korean bakery that we saw along the way. Continue reading “New York Diaries: Paris Baguette and The Girl”
10.06.14: Of ramen and tea
Hello, dolls!!! 🙂 Hello, Vancouver!! Aaah I can’t believe that this is really happening!! After having an amazing and busy weekend with A,we are now on our way to Manila. As what A said “it is our most memorable trip to Manila”. It is definitely a trip of a lifetime because it will be the first time that our families will be together. Anyway, we have less than an hour left here in Vancouver until our plane leaves for Manila, hopefully that will be enough time for me to publish this one before all the craziness begin when we arrive home.
Today, we experienced a couple of firsts together. It’s our first time to travel to Manila together (this is A’s third time in MNL). Also, our first time to fly out of JFK. Thank God that our flag carried, Philippine Airlines, started flying to Manila from New York 2 weeks ago! We were very excited about this when they broke the news last year, no more loooong layovers, exhausting connecting flights, and worrying about our baggage!
Oh,we have so much love for New York! So let me share with you A’s birthday celebration in New York last year 🙂
One of the things that I love about A is how it’s not very hard to put a smile on his face.
He appreciates everything even the simplest form of gesture.
So what better way to make my birthday boy happy? A trip to New York to eat ramen 🙂 Continue reading “New York Diaries: Ivan Ramen”
07.21.14: Bida ang sarap!
Hello, dolls!! Happy Sunday!!! Our third pre-cana class just ended and ahhhh I can’t believe that we are almost at the end of this beautiful journey. We had an amazing day today! Although I must say, I overslept a little haha (but hey! I deserve it after working almost 13 hours yesterday!) So we went to church and had brunch at one of the best brunch places here in Baltimore, then had a good afternoon in class. How I love Sundays like this! Earlier, I prayed for more meaningful Sundays like today this year. My heart breaks just thinking about February ending so soon…and how after the wedding our work schedule will most likely get in the way.
So we are just 6 days away from Valentine’s….meaning 6 days until my father-in-law turns 60! What’s exciting about it is that we will be in New Jersey the day after so I am pretty hyped up about that. A short vacation is much needed for A and I!
I have 6 days to dream about our upcoming getaway. For now, I’ll blog about our New York side trip that happened over the summer.
A would often say that he wishes we have Jollibee close to us. When we are in New Jersey, he would drop hints saying we should go to Jollibee for lunch.
So when we were in New York with his family we decided to have lunch there so they can try the best-fried chicken..ever! 😛
2 buckets of fried chicken, rice, 4 large fries, 4 sundaes, yumburger, and my avocado pearl shake…. YES! When in Jollibee….YOU GO BIG! 😉 Continue reading “New York Eats: Jollibee”
07.20.14: With My Italian Family
Hello, dolls!!!! Happy Friday — well it’s not officially Friday yet but ahhh I am just excited to wake up in the morning later and have lunch with the fiance cause it won’t be for another 2 and a half days until I get to spend more than an hour with him during the day. Anyway, one of my goals for my blog is to post at least 2 entries about our upcoming big day (3 months left!), finish all my holiday posts, and start February with a Bangkok post. I know I can do all these as long as I stick to blogging 3 times a week.
I can’t believe that my year of being a fiancee is already over and that in a few months I will embrace a new role.
If there is a perfect word for 2014 for me, it would be YES.
2015 will be, I DO.
After I got engaged to A, I realized that we are not only engaged to each other, we are also engaged to our families. Last year, I really felt how blessed I am to be a part of A’s family. They give me sooo much love and happiness like we have known each other for years!
Over the summer, A’s parents threw us an engagement dinner. Since A’s family live in New York, we did the party there.
Adorable gift bag from the Buscemi’s. Continue reading “Engagement Dinner”
07.20.14: Summer’s yummy colors
Hello, dolls!!! Happy Sunday! 🙂 Today has been lovely — A and I were able to go to church early in the morning, have a sumptuous lunch together, and I was able to spend the afternoon with a friend. It’s days like this when I appreciate the time that I get for myself, with all the crazy things that I have to do, it feels like a reward lately. So A and I were sick for the past week, I guess I have to get used to being sick during the first week of January now because I can see that my body hates the cold weather that even 3 layers of clothing won’t suffice.
So anyway, here’s the continuation of my blog post about our NYC trip over the summer. http://riannagalvez.com/2015/01/10/nyc-jeepney/
Growing up, I never thought I will love wearing skirts. My family can attest that I used to be a jeans and sneakers kind of girl —- cause I used to be really concious about my legs. Now, I dislike wearing jeans. And even when it’s really cold out, I would prefer to wear a skirt with tights underneath. #TiisGanda as we say it in the Philippines!
Let me start my post with some yummy macarons. My ultimate favorite treat!
Give me macarons and I’ll love you forever. Continue reading “NYC: The Girl and Her Macarons”
07.20.14: Summer Adventures
Hello, dolls! I was supposed to post this last night, but I felt really sick. ughh We had our first snowfall 3 days ago, so I guess this is how my body is adjusting. Coming from a tropical country, wherein you can only distinguish the weather as hot or hotter (lol), my body is really not used to winter. I am not a fan of winter, in fact I am already counting the days until it’s over. If it weren’t for the outfits that I can wear, I would probably abhor it. Since I am in dire need of anything that will keep me warm throughout the day, I am going to share with you our NYC food adventure this past summer. Talking about summer and a Filipino restaurant (cause it’s always warm in the Philippines) will surely help me stay cozy.
A wawa stop is always part of our schedule when we go to NJ or NY. And of course, I do not leave without a nice cold peach yogurt smoothie to keep me energized. haha
I like how Wawa has healthy food and drink choices!
A and I has a long list of places that we want to go to — overseas, here in Baltimore, other big states, and of course..New York.
I am very happy to say that we crossed off a lot of restaurants on our list last year. Including restaurants that are not very close to us… yay!
Filipino cuisine is still trying to make its way to be known and loved globally. It’s only now that a number of Filipino restaurants here in Baltimore opened up (3 years ago I only knew about 2, this year… we have 2 more Filipino restaurants close to us now yay!). So imagine our excitement when we found out about Jeepney, 1 of the 12 restaurants in New York that we know of. Continue reading “NYC: Jeepney”
Hello, sweets!!! 🙂 Today I am going to write about the continuation of our engagement shoot. Unlike my previous post, this won’t be extra cheesy and it will mostly cover food. It’s hard for A and I to go out on a date and not make food the highlight.Planning the engagement shoot was very exciting for us, so I will also add a little extra to this post and show you snippets of the things that we did prior to the event. I don’t know if I can ever top my New York Engagement Shoot post, I mean WOW! The traffic that I got and overwhelming messages from everyone made my heart melt. And I guess it’s safe to say…… donnnnn’t goooo! Hahaha!
Want to be inspired? Read my blog about our Engagement Shoot before you scroll down http://riannagalvez.com/2014/10/22/new-york-engagement-shoot/
New York is not only about the fast phased lifestyle and glamorous outfits. It’s the concrete jungle, and one must be an animal to fully see what New York is all about.
Don’t just go to 5th Ave or Times Square. Do get lost, ask New Yorkers, and don’t be afraid! Try the food carts parked on the streets and go to a beautiful restaurant with an amazing view. Stare at the subway map. Ladies, look at the shoes that New Yorkers wear.
Don’t be a tourist, be a traveler.
A gets excited when he sees the word “noodles”. He saw the logo of this restaurant and asked Pat if he can take pictures outside this restaurant.
I almost died laughing, but let’s be honest I found it cute that he spoke up. The engagement shoot is more of a woman’s thing and the fact that he cooperated and wanted something for the two of us made me so happy.
Anyway, we can’t have a picture outside this restaurant and not eat here.

Hello, sweets!! 🙂 Happy hump day!!! I’ve noticed that I haven’t posted anything about my wedding and the joys of planning it since the proposal entry. I love planning events! I think if I am not a Chef right now I would be an Event planner, slaving my way to every joyous moment. I can’t believe that A and I are getting closer and closer to our BIG DAY!!!! And everyday I feel like I still have a million things to do. It’s extra challenging to plan our wedding because we are miles and miles away from the Philippines. Yes! The wedding is going to be in the Philippines, so we are going back to my home country in a couple of months and we can’t wait!! My only wish during this process is to not be a bridezilla, I do not want to put the people that I love through a frightening roller coaster ride. I want it to be memorable for all of us, that’s why I want my personal touch in everything and everyone’s opinion. So far, no one has opposed to anything yet, I don’t know if they are just being nice or what but knowing that everyone is on the same page when it comes to the wedding makes things a lot easier.
Today, I will share with you one of the most exciting happenings in my life, and probably one of the best parts of being engaged —- the engagement shoot! A lot of couples are doing it now, and since I got engaged, whenever A and I does something related to the wedding I couldn’t help but be grateful for all the fun things that we get to experience. Getting married now is now an extra memorable milestone for the couple, all the perks and celebrations are just some of the things that makes me want to not let this pre-wedding stuff to end. I also know that there are still a number of engaged couples out there who are not too thrilled about doing an engagement shoot, and it could be because of many reasons, doing an engagement shoot is not cheap, and it will take up your day just for the shoot alone —- unless you want to keep it low-key and hire a friend photographer, you’ll be fine.
Anyway, these are not the official photos from our photographer. I will be selfish for a little bit and take my time before I share them here! HAHA. And before you move on to the rest of my entry, read about my engagement here http://riannagalvez.com/2014/07/20/yes/
My main reason why I started this blog 3 years ago is to inspire people, and though sometimes I feel like I fall short in doing that. Today, I will do my very best to tell you a few tips about having an engagement shoot 🙂
New York, New York!
Here we are at the Brooklyn Bridge being directed by my favorite photographer 🙂 Continue reading “New York Engagement Shoot”
04.21.2014: Will you marry me?
Hello, dolls!! 🙂 Today, I will be sharing something very special and personal. I’ve always had trouble opening up,and this blog has been my outlet for years now. I may not dig deep when I share something, but knowing that there is a place where I can pour my heart out is comforting for me. Before, this was just a place for me to vent and put my sadness into words. Now, as years went by, I’ve seen the beauty in life and I promised myself that I will try to inspire people through this blog by talking about all the amazing things that comes my way.
Who would have thought that I would be writing about something that every girl dreams of now? I must confess, I’ve always wanted to find my one true love before I turn 25. There’s something about growing old together and celebrating years and years and yeaaaars of love with the person you love, you know? Something that made me believe in young love (without being a hopeless romantic) and taking risks. I still can’t believe that IT HAPPENED! I met the love of my life and he is beyond AMAZING! Three years ago I was hopeless and broken, and I ran away….I decided to clean my life and do something that I wouldn’t do in a million years, leave home.
I flew 8,539 miles, with half my heart left in MNL. 8,539 miles to find myself again and create a better version of me. Until someone, unexpectedly came my way.YES… the time that I wasn’t even trying to find someone and the only time that I told myself that I am not ready. It’s crazy you know? How A found me, how he saw me at my ugliest and still looked at me. How I was so broken for being away from my family, and without even trying he fixed me. And how it just all happened, without me even knowing. It’s crazy…. crazy love.
It happened. It’s official.
GORGEOUS! A knows how to make me feel special…in every possible way.
Me: Why did you get this ring?
Him: When I saw it I just said “thats’ her”. It was the most beautiful ring in the case.
There is something about a man who knows what to give his lady without even asking her.

04.21.2014: Before the big Y-E-S.
Hello, dolls!!! 🙂 Today, I will love myself more. I mean not that I don’t…In fact, sometimes I think I love myself waaay too much haha. But you see, I had a pretty rough week. I don’t know what hit me but I overthink everything or anything that comes my way. I get in this weird zone at least once in a year, not more than thrice if I may say, but yeah. I am just fortunate that I have A who is very patient who tells me the nicest things, hugs me tighter, and keeps emotional eating away from me.
For our anniversary this year, A and I went to New York. We are planning to celebrate our anniversary in different cities (last year we were in New Jersey). I’ve always wanted to go to Momofuku, ever since I read about it almost 4 years ago. It took me a while to get there, but trust me, A and I tried to go 2 years ago but something as exciting as going to Momofuku always comes up, that we’ve decided put it on hold until April 21st. It was more meaningful for us anyway because we went on our Anniversary day! 😉

Last part of our awesome trip in NYC. It’s amazing how Times Square could turn into something different during the night. 08.05.12 – Empire State of Mind
Third stop for our awesome trip in New York last Tuesday. We did not plan anything for that day, so everything that transpired throughout our trip were spontaneous. It started raining on our way to the Empire and it was a bit disheartening for us thinking that it might last until the evening, but as soon as we arrived outside the building the rain stopped so it was a fortuitous day for us 🙂
Hello, Empire State!
The view was very breathtaking, it felt so surreal 🙂
My favorite building in NYC 🙂

08.05.12 – Beeda ang Sarap
First part of my third NYC trip 🙂 Karen suggested that we should go to Jollibee for lunch, so off we went. In my normal world in the Philippines, I try to keep my distance from fast food as much as possible cause I’d rather eat on a table with white linens and enjoy the greatness of life in my mouth :)) But this was different, I am already away from home for 6 months, and anything that says Philippines in it excite me. I felt like a kid with a happy meal in happy land with happy food…yeah, you get the picture haha
We all screamed when we saw the sign. LOL
Went to their branch in Jersey City cause its much nearer from where we were.
With “Charmee” aka Snooki of Jersey Shore hahaha
