The Greek Life

Cause I love anything Greek way too much

Hello, sweets!! Guess what?? We had the Friday night off again!! I can’t help but find it funny because a couple of days ago I was just gushing about our Friday date night back in Summer…and now we were able to do it again this Fall. YAY! Last night was ahmaaahzing! It was not like our Woodberry date night but A gave me new memories to cherish. what we did is somewhat related to what I will be talking about in a while…GREEK! I am so happy that I am here for the Greek Festival this year, and that we were able to go and eat delicious Greek food…..and have fun with our friends after! I  couldn’t think of any other way to celebrate our Fall Friday Date Night  than how we spent it last night.

I compiled all the Greek related photos that I have on my computer to make a decent Greek related post. A couple of days ago, I told A and his Mom that I am happy that they celebrate a lot of traditions. That we always have something to look forward to and feel grateful for each day.

The Greek Life is more than just lemons, feta cheese, and olive oil. I think one of the reasons why I am very excited to marry A is because his values are the same as mine.

To start this entry…. I will talk about me! HAHA

So I finally got a haircut after 4 months of being back here in Baltimore. I am always afraid to go for a trim (even though mah girl LC says that we should !) I’ve had my fair share of annoying “my hair is way tooo short moments” so yeaaap, it usally takes me a while to go back. haha

Anyway, so I went to the salon a couple of hours before our drive to New Jersey, and after an hour of hair treatment and a long chat with the hairdresser, I did not notice time and I was already outside the salon so no blow dry for me!! Haha The lady did not want to let me leave with wet hair so she did this for me! #LoveIt (more…)

24th Birthday Month

Hello, sweets! Hello, birthday month!!!! Aaaah I can’t believe it’s November already. My sweet fiance sent me a sweet message today telling me it’s already my birthday month. That started my day right because I love it when A remembers little details that make me happy. Anyway, the month of November makes me miss home more. My birthday is less than a month away from Christmas (and my brother’s birthday) so I always get pretty sentimental. This year, I will be missing holidays at home…again. Good thing, I have memories from last year’s festivities with me to help me get through this year with a big smile on my face.

IMG_1516

Yes….my life mantra.

And it’s a real thing because I really do eat cake for breakfast once in while. Haha

DSCN9988A

  • Today I will share with you some of the things that I did when I was still in the Philippines. I don’t think there is no better way to celebrate this day but to reminisce of all the good things that I shared with my family over food.
  • Like this mini red velvet cake.

Room Tour: MNL

Hello, dolls!! 🙂 We are here in New Jersey now and I can’t believe that we are going home tonight….already!!! We spent 3 days here and it was ahmahhhzing!A short day trip to Philadelphia yesterday and a lot of eating since Sunday…aaah I am so happy <3 Anyway, I am not going to let this week pass without thanking my first love, my Dad. I’ve already caught up with my family posts (I never thought this day would come haha jk) so I am sharing something extra personal today.

I will show you a glimpse of the amazing room that my Dad built for my sister and I <3

Last year, I came home with soooooo much excitement. Aside from happiness that I felt when I saw my family at the airport, the anticipation of going back to a more beautiful home made me want to leave the airport right away.

Frances’ Bachelorette Party

03.27.2014: G.I.R.L.S

Hello dolls!! 🙂 Happy Friday! The past week has been pretty stressful, the (hashtag) BTB problems has finally kicked in. How did I go from more than a year to less than 11 months? Anyway, today I will be sharing with you another party that I hosted, this time in our apartment. I’ve learned to love hosting parties after my Dad’s great decision of building a rooftop for us. Though I have not hosted any gatherings for the past month because of work, I am looking forward to the next one that will come my way (and I am sensing that it will be in Manila! yay). So just imagine my delight when one of my good friends, Frances, came up to me and asked if I can host her Bachelorette party? I was so excited that I was able to finalize the menu in less than 24 hours haha. I only had less than 3 weeks to get the party together and I am glad that it was a success.

We had so much fun that uhh…I am sharing 50+ photos!! Yupppp.. I got a little crazy haha

DSC_0665A

So once again, I tried to be Martha Stewart and made most of the decorations and  all of the food

the other bridesmaids and I decided on the theme “welcome spring” (cause we were all just yearning for it) and I was supposed to do the party at our backyard but UHHHH it rained! It was pouring so I had to bring the party inside.

Family Night Times Four

Hello, dolls!! 🙂 How was your cinco de mayo?  I hope it wasn’t just another lazy Monday, cause mine was AWESOME. I know the Philippines is not big on cinco de mayo, but America is, and I am so glad that I can celebrate and not look weird for being too excited about it. The night before cinco de mayo, something hit me, I saw the scarf that my brother #jejekid gave me 2 years ago. I thought that it was really perfect for the day — the festive colors representing cinco de mayo and the soft texture fit for spring. I pulled it out of my closet and as a habit, I smelled it (yes, I smell my clothes haha) but that’s not what’s important — it smelled like home. The mixed feelings that I got when I smelled the scarf brought me to tears and gave me this certain excitement. I can’t wait to go home and be with my piggies again, I can’t wait to cook for my family again and see my Dad happy, I can’t wait for our travel plans to happen — I CAN’T WAIT!

DSCN0085

Cinco de Mayo and my yearning for my family? This is the perfect post for today.

I love themed dinners and love menu planning. I am very OC when it comes to the dishes complimenting each other — flavor, cuisine, texture, color.

Of Befores

Hello, dolls!! 🙂 I can’t believe that April is almost coming to an end!!! It has been an amazing month and I am looking forward to the amazing things that we have planned for May 2014. Though I hate to see the loveliest month of the year leave, I am excited that in 4 months I will be with my family again!!! We have planned so much for my return and aaaaaah I can’t wait to travel and be with my favorite piggies again!!

So this the continuation  (sort of) of my major throwback post 3 days ago.

Maxi skirts/dresses makes me feel pretty without being too girly.

DSCN0700A

I hate”d” wearing pants. I used to wear them a lot when I was younger but everyone thought I was a tomboy or something so I had to do some MAJOR makeover and yeaaap a few years after here I am now, posting a fashion entry on my blog.

Rooftop Afternoons

Hello, dolls!! 🙂 It’s officially spring, my favorite season!! It’s crazy how the nicer weather comes with spring flu virus. Yup, I caught it! I’ve been sneezing and sniffing since yesterday and boy is it hard to be sick when you are alone. All I really want to do now is to cuddle with my Mom.I always find myself wanting to be snuggled up in bed with her when I’m sick. She is soooo soft and her arms and legs are “pillow like” lol.

So today I am going to make you hungry. My afternoons here in Baltimore are different — no rooftop, no afternoon cooking for the family, just me time usually. In the midst of my crazy fast paced life, I can’t help but be excited for my Dad’s 50th birthday!!! I can already smell home and feel the warmth of being surrounded by my family. Don’t get me wrong, I love it here! I am loving every minute of it and I wouldn’t have my life any other way BUT home is home.

Let me share with you some of the things that I cooked for my family, especially my parents, before I left MNL 🙂

Anghelica’s

Hello dolls and hello APRIL!!! It’s official, A and I are only days away from celebrating our second anniversary. The weather is getting nicer now and I am just hoping that our anniversary weekend will be as good as last year’s. Anyway, one of the things that I am missing terribly is authentic Filipino food. It’s so weird cause I am not really the kind of Filipino who requests for Pinoy food every week, when I was still home I would often suggest Japanese,Chinese, Thai, Mediterranean, European or Italian food when we go out. BUT one thing that I could not resist are Filipino Desserts! I cannot go a week without having my kakanin or ube fix. And I must say, I go gaga over ube.

IMG_0918

Best ube dessert I had!!!

Uhhhh why can’t I just have this now??? Whyyyy!!?!?

IMG_0919

The person behind this amazing ube leche flan cake is probably the nicest and coolest Chef that I know. And I am not only saying this cause she understands my kaartehan BUT because she really is amazing like that.

Two of the best Filipino desserts in one?? YES PLEASE!

I wish I have a better photo of this heavenly delight when I ordered the first time, but my family just massacred this thing  after I opened the box. It was toooo good!!!

IMG_3883A

I am such a fan. I can’t sit and  just look at her posts on Facebook when she launched her “Dulce Queso Mamon and Smore’s”.

It’s such a shame cause Chef Ann just came up with another dessert and I am like 1 million miles away from the Philippines!! 😐 I swear when I get back I am going to order the biggest ube leche flan cake and the new baby!! 🙂

Our affair with Banana Leaf

Hello dolls!! 🙂 Today marks my first month here in Baltimore, and I can’t believe that it has already been a month!!! It definitely feels longer than that cause I have been productive everyday (or at least I try lol) I couldn’t think of anything better to write about than the beautiful memories that I have with my family before I left. As you all know I suck at keeping up with my time when it comes to updating this blog,  cause mainly I like to appreciate every moment, take all the feelings, and find the right time before I post them here (cause I am just this sentimental). So anyway, my first month here has been nothing but AHHMAHHZING! I wouldn’t have it any other way, the love that my family here shows me and the people I am surrounded with that makes each day bearable are just some of the few reasons why I can still update this blog.

It is happening NOW.

Though we are miles and miles away from each other, my family is still my source of strength and the greatest motivation I have in being better and stronger. I can’t wait to be with them again and show how much I’ve grown since I left!!!

Half A Month

03.02.14 – 03.09.14

Hello, dolls!! 🙂 Let me tell you upfront that this is going to be lengthy (yup, 20++ photos ahead!). So I am squeezing this in my busy weekend.I meant to post this a few days ago but responsibilities just came knocking on my door, awesome opportunities for that matter. I think I have been overworking myself for the past 3 days that all I want to do now is lay in bed and sleep….BUUUUT I must fight this feeling cause I have another fun night ahead of me!! 🙂 I can’t believe that 2 days from now I will be here for a month already! Meaning, it has been a month since I last hugged my family!!! AAAAAH, but no drama cause I know I can make things happen and in less than a year I will see them again! I promise.

DSC_0053A

So life has been AMAAAAHZING here, and I think this blog deserves an awesome “update”!

I’ve been taking lots of photos with my new “baby”, resulting to me uploading 20+ photos for this entry (it’s so hard to choose!!!)

Random heaps with the fambam

Hello, dolls!! 🙂 It feels so weird to be home on a Friday night. Usually by this time, my family and I are on our way to Quiapo church for our Friday tradition. It feels different, to be here in my apartment waiting for 10pm to come. But,I know it will feel a lot more different when I have to spend my Friday nights in the kitchen again in a few weeks. So this is me… missing home.

Being away is never going to be easy but I guess it’s just a matter of getting used to and embracing the beauty of my new life. Everyday I wake up and think how blessed I am to be here and how I should be strong and not let my emotions get in the way. So this is me…giving myself a pep talk  HAHA

DSCN0561

One of the things that I ultimately miss about home is having dinner with my family.

I like Korean food! I remember going to a couple of good Korean restaurants with my friends. Back then my family was still adamant about it. I am so glad that they finally gave it a try and LOVED IT!

Thank you, Sariwon!

The Second Chapter

02.24.14 – 03.01.14 – Baltimore all over again

Hello, dolls!! 🙂 I just started a new week here…and boy I feel like this “welcome back vibe” is not going to end for another month. Time is moving too fast but my tasks and responsibilities are never ending — not that I’m complaining. I like this…I love this! I love looking forward to the things ahead of me and get them done one by one — just like how I, and everyone else that I love, made my return to Baltimore possible.

Exactly 12 days from today I will mark my first month here for the second time. A little over 2 weeks and I feel like there’s this side in Baltimore that I just don’t want to go to, and it’s crazy cause it’s not even a place. Vague and silly as it may sound but yeah trying to stay away from everyone else’s drama is pretty hard when you have no one with you most of the day.

Anyway, here’s a rundown of what transpired during my first 5 days back here. These are just highlights of each day so yeaaaap.

IMG_5104A

A and his parents picked me up from the airport — yup I am blessed like that.

I didn’t really feel hungry when I hopped off the plane, and after finding out that Delta left my other luggage in LAX!

IMG_5103A

We went to the last restaurant I went to last year, before I went back to the Philippines. It’s so nice to be at the last place I’ve been to for my first hour back.

And yes, I like diners here cause they serve omelettes and I LOVE EGGS!

IMG_5105A

A’s scrapple and my garden omelette.

This breakfast definitely made me feel that I am back in the US! I am not an omelette person in the Philippines, but here… I AM!

Soul Sisters

Hello dolls!! 🙂 I woke up today feeling more excited. I can’t believe how close I am to the “soon” that I’ve been saying for the past 5 months. I know this HUGE decision in my life will bring me nothing but fulfillment. This road is meant for me, I know it. I’ve been blessed since day 1, and I promise that I will live each day being grateful.

Time is moving too fast and I know I feel that way cause I have been extremely busy over the past few days..like crazy busy. My phone has been ringing like it’s my birthday and I am still trying to figure out how I will be able to hangout with everyone that I love without sacrificing time for my family.

#JustSaying

You see, I like reading stuff – articles, books or anything that entices me. “buzzfeed”,”thoughtcatalog”, and the like has been all over our news feeds on Facebook and I try not to “re-post” everything that I see, but when I do,I try to share my thoughts/feelings about it.

DSCN0078

Every week, Alyza and I would set a day for our “afternoon date”. I like going out after I eat lunch with my parents and be home before dinner. Having lunch/dinner with my family is really important to me, it’s what I look forward to each day…and each week I look forward to my “afternoon date” with my favorite food buddy here in MNL. Hello, dolls!! 🙂 Happy Valentine’s Day!!! 🙂 I am going to work on this entry now before I get caught up with my “Valentine’s Day kitchen lovin’ “. I’ve been in the kitchen since noon, preparing stuff for tonight’s dinner. I am tooooo excited!! Valentine’s day is a family thing for me, you know haha. It’s such a shame that the man that gave me my first REAL Valentine’s day is at the other side of the globe, and I know it sounds a little silly but I am not sad that we are not together. We still found a way (especially him) to make our V-day special, and like I said earlier… Valentine’s has always been a family thing for me 😉

Yesterday, I was finally able to say that I really am leaving soon. I am still not emotional as of now. which is a good thing. Cause the last time I left for the states, I was already bawling my eyes out a month before my departure. I know this is not going to be as sad as before, cause I will not be away for the entire year. I am hastagging “MNL2014” in my head cause I am going to make it happen…anything for the man that I love the most <3

“The ability to make people think is a wonderful gift”

I often question myself why I blog and not call myself a…blogger. I don’t know about you, but I respect every title there is in this world. Like how I take the word “Chef” seriously, and work hard to be deserving to be called one.I still feel shy when someone calls me a blogger, I feel like I am trespassing the zone of the people who actually works hard for it, like those who actually do it for a living. I think that I exist on WordPress as a person who likes to talk about life and share wonderful photos.Inspire readers through my passion for cooking, love for fashion, and the beauty of being a daughter/sister/lover.

10.10.13 First Rooftop Party

Hello, sweets!! 🙂 It is Saturday and I am….home. Before I got back I promised myself that I will try to stay home every weekend and spend time with my family. I only have 4 weekends left here and I want them to feel my presence at all times! I could’ve been cooking now, but for some reason, I am going to hold back to it until tomorrow. Yikes!

I am going to share with you our first “rooftop party at home”. I’ve always wanted to have a rooftop party since…ever! But it wasn’t possible until this past October 2013. I am lucky that I have a very hardworking Dad who only gives us the extreme best in life.

DSCN9659

One of A’s birthday celebrations here in MNL is this dinner that we had with my favorite girls.

The weather was very unkind to us so not everyone was able to come. And the “rooftop” scenario was not something anyone would hope for.

Our Kitchen Diaries

October 2013

Hello ,dolls!!! 🙂 I am back with another blog post about A’s 3 week vacation here in the Philippines 🙂 I am going to skip to our “pre and post Hong Kong trip”…just because. But really, I just want to work on that when I have a clearer view about things. Like no travel jitters about next month– just me, my piece of mind and the happiness that we felt during our 6 days in Hong Kong. So before I get to that sappy lane of being lonely and excited about my departure for the US next month, I will stop myself now and proceed to the photos below 🙂

IMG_0571

Before we left for Hong Kong, A and I decided to cook dinner for my family.

Of looking at..CHANGE

September Random Heaps Hello, dolls! 🙂 So this is finally my last entry before I make you sick of my awesome 3 weeks with A here in the Philippines. I want to preserve all of our happy moments in every possible way,and sharing them here is one way. Anyway, I am turning 23 in a couple of days and I am glad that I made the right decision by not rushing things…cause I will be celebrating with my family this year!! Yay! It was so hard for me when my family was not around when I turned 22. I felt really really cold inside, I felt like a zombie the whole month of November last year. Though, I’ve already accepted the fact that celebrating my birthday with my family and A for the next 2 years is out of the question, I still die a little inside. I really wish that in the next 3 years, I will have not to miss another special moment with my family whether it’s my birthday, or theirs. It is pretty upsetting when you set your mind into something and you see a chance of it not happening. Cause life decides to shake you a little and make you think of other countless possibilities about the choice that you’ve made. I don’t know, but, either way there’s always sadness along the way. So enough with the sappiness.. it’s ramble time. ha ha IMG_8364

09.12.13: Brunch lovin’

Hello, dolls!! 🙂 So I’ve been spending a lot of time in our kitchen here at home (yay! the joy having a newly built kitchen). I have so much to share on this blog -food, the awesome 3 weeks of my 2013, and more FOOD! One of the things that I love to do here in Manila is to save a day for a restaurant that I want to try,or sometimes when I’m lucky I get to have another day for a restaurant that I want to go back to. I love dining out and be inspired to “experiment” on something new in the kitchen.

So this happened 12 days before A got here in the Philippines…and obviously I am over 2 months late again 🙁 But, guess what?? this blog will be back on track in no time! Just like how it started! 🙂

IMG_8981

And..and cause…I love home fires for breakfast..or potatoes.yes, potatoes (I am crazy about potatoes)

Lastly, EGGS! I can have egg anytime of the day (breakfast food for dinner?? AWESOME!)

(So yeah…that was the fatty inside of me talking!!)

IMG_9058

I was very happy with my order! Although I wish the biscuits were bigger…just like Popeye’s. Haha

I was stuffed by the time we finished. So I passed on having a cupcake for dessert.

Anyway, I really wanted to go there to try their food! 🙂

Other Side

April 2013

Someone pinch me now….this is my third consecutive blog for the week! I never thought that letting myself drift away from my crazy “I-always-need-to-do-something-productive” self can be this damn good. I have always lived my life like my world is going to fall apart if I do not do anything that requires me to be on my feet for more than an hour. Life has its way of letting the productivity into my life even if choose not to entertain anything but “calmness and relaxation” (but let’s face it, laziness is the word that I am getting to lol). I have no concrete explanation of why I am in this “#BumLife” mode since he went back home, maybe it’s my way of drifting away from the sadness (which I must say, we did a really good job on) or maybe it’s my way of telling myself that it’s okay to stay in bed for more than 8 hours. All I know is, I am only giving myself until this Sunday to wake up and see the world again.
