(Hello,2015) Hello, March!

12.31.14: HAPPY NEW YEAAAAR!

Hello, sweets! Hello, MARCH! Whew! Just like that….and February is over. I asked myself today if I am happy about my accomplishments for the past month, if I have done enough, learned new things, and spent each day wisely. I did, I am so happy that I was able to make the most out of February. So I spent the first hour of my day laying in bed thinking about how exhausting my Saturday shift was. I literally can’t get myself out of bed this morning, it’s as if I ran a marathon last night.

Speaking of first day, for my first blog for the month, I will share with you how we welcomed the New Year (the first day of the year).

DSC_0923A

A and I had to work that day. But lucky for me, I was able to leave 2 hours early from work. I was stressed out about our food all day. We finalized the menu the day before New Year’s Eve.

Our menu is simple and “time friendly”. I only had an hour to spare for cooking.I wanted to be on full party mode once our guests arrive so yeah, for a last minute party menu, I must say that we had a decent NYE party food.

DSC_0903A

Cause what’s a party without dessert?

So I can’t not throw a party without baking something. I had to use whatever we had here. Lucky for me, I bought strawberries earlier that week. So I decided to make strawberry swirl cupcakes with strawberry and cream cheese frosting. Continue reading “(Hello,2015) Hello, March!”

Christmas 2014

12.25.14: Merry Chirstmas

Hello, dolls! Hello, Tuesday. 3 days has passed since we welcomed February and I can already see a million posts on Facebook and Instagram about Valentine’s day (most of them are the usual highschool-ish posts about being single on Vday #ugh). So anyway, Valentine’s is something I do not really forward to every year. After being disappointed when I was still in high school…cause you know?HS Valentine’s is all about flowers and chocolates — and I am not big on receiving flowers if it’s not from my Dad so yeaaap — and oh no good Vday dates until A came in my life so yeah…Valentine’s was not in my zone for a long time. As far as I’m concerned, Valtnine’s is for my Dad and I.

So I am ALMOST done with my Holiday diary. I am pretty happy with my blogging last month because I was able to accomplish 90% of the posts that I wanted to share. This month I can finally write about our Bangkok trip which I am really excited about! 🙂

Christmas Morning

12.25.14: Merry Christmas!

Hello, dolls! 🙂 Happy Friday!! Aaaaah it has been a very long day and I am just so happy to be sitting on the couch, catching up on my show, blogging while looking at wedding stuff, and eating a hot delicious bowl of chicken noodle soup cooked by A. (so yeaaap I like to multitask!) Anyway, tonight I will clear my mind by sharing what our Christmas morning looked like this December.

DSC_0751A

I was super excited to wake up on Christmas morning.

I was motivated to wake up early that day.First because of my family that I was able to talk to, and second…the presents!!!

DSC_0752A

presents, presents, presents!

..and there were still a lot hidden behind the chairs.

DSC_0758A

Can’t call it Christmas morning without our Christmas jammies <3DSC_0759A

It was love at first sight when I saw these PJs. I feel like it was made for me! Eiffel tower?? Yes please!

Super perfect for Christmas! I am seriously convinced that I am going to wear this again for Christmas Eve this year… unless I find something just as adorbs. Continue reading “Christmas Morning”

Christmas Eve 2014

12.24.14: WISH

Hello, dolls! 🙂 Happy Weekend!! We are now on day 17 of 2015, how has your year been so far? I wonder if I can ever feel that time is moving normally, like I am not chasing after it. For the past year, a lot of great things happened that kind of wish that 2014 could be longer…you know? Like…it’s too good to end.

I like how the holidays are at the end of the year. I feel like we are being rewarded for all the hard work that we did, love and kindness that we gave, and sacrifices that we made. And at the same time, be blessed with His presence and the realization that He is with us throughout the year. Cause honestly, nothing can make us feel better than the faith that we have for Him within us.

DSC_0967A

My Christmas Eve was beautiful. We woke up in New York, talked to my family in MNL during the day, and spent the holiday with our family here in New Jersey.

DSC_0729A

This was the second time I’ve spent Christmas away from my family. But you know what’s amazing? God blessed me with another family that I can be with..without even asking for it, He gave me A and his family. Continue reading “Christmas Eve 2014”

Thanksgiving 2014

11.27.14: Turkey Day

Hello, dolls!!! So something hit me last night… I realized that I should work on my Holiday posts before it gets really old. The last 2 months of the year is probably the busiest for most of us. We celebrate 5 holidays…meaning 5 days to look forward to with family (and over eating!). Thanksgiving is right around my birthday, and though I’ve only celebrated it twice, I appreciate how I know I’ll have family to celebrate my birthday with.

DSC_0762A

Speaking of family….. it will only be less than 3 months until I get to be home again!!!!

But I’ll get back to this later haha

DSC_0175A

 Our beautiful table on Thanksgiving.

I spent the day with my family here in Baltimore. A had to work until 8PM which made me feel bad for him because I know how much he wanted to be with his family.

So we had dinner later than everyone else in the East Coast…it’s funny cause as I was browsing my Instagram feed I saw a bunch of Thanksgiving dinner posts while we were just having our appetizer. haha Continue reading “Thanksgiving 2014”

Hello, 2015

Hello, dolls! 🙂 3 days has passed since we welcome the new year, how was your 2015 so far? I honestly don’t feel like it’s already 2015, maybe because I am drowning with all the responsibilities that I have to do before this month ends (God I really need to get it together) or maybe because I still can’t believe that I will get married, see my family, and turn 25 THIS YEAR! It’s crazy how life scares us with time sometimes, I feel like I can never have enough days in a year — especially starting 2012, cause since then life has been amazing and I always get this feeling that I do not want that year to end.

Anyway, I stopped doing resolutions when I turned 15, cause after 10 days I forget about all the things that I want to change about myself and end up with a piece of paper that didn’t make sense at all by June. I feel like goals work for me better cause I like to make things happen.

So now, let me officially welcome 2015 by giving you 15 of my goals this year — for my family, love, and myself.

—————

Family

DSC_1291AA

1. Holidays

As we close out the holiday season, I am putting this one first. This is the second time that I celebrated Christmas and New Year away from my family and just like everyone else who has the same situation as mine, I do not like it —- it’s hard. So this year, my goal is to not make 2015 the third time that I will spend the holidays away from my family.

DSC_1243AA

2. Embrace them as many times as possible

Cause no matter what happens, I will always always go back home to see my family. I can’t wait to be back in Manila in April and sleep in my room, wake up and hear my Dad’s voice, try Mama’s new recipes, and be silly with my siblings. So when I come home this year, I want to be a better hugger, and hug them just like how my Dad hugs us. Continue reading “Hello, 2015”

12.2013: Memories at home

Hello, dolls! 🙂 Happy Christmas Eve!!!!!!! Aaaah another year of spending the holidays away from my family, but thank God this year is not going to be sad or anything because I have A’s family with me. I sometimes feel guilty when I overlook the sad part of being away from home, I feel like I am cheating.

I miss home… I miss all our December traditions. I know it’s too much to ask, but sometimes I wish I have both.

The food that I make at home helps me remember all the good moments that I had with my family.

Greek Easter 2014

Hello, dolls!! 🙂 I thank the #TBT gods for gracing us Thursday for throwbacks, the day that is “quite” okay for me to post an entry that is at least 2 months old. “Quite” cause I know I should be doing a better job in updating my page. My goal for this blog this year is to be up to date with everything and have no entries that is more than a month old wish me luck.  The amount of entries that I have yet to post is not getting any smaller, but I am getting close to bringing this page up to date so yea, I have 5 months!!! 😉

Anyway, I have always been excited about embracing new traditions and one of the things that I looked forward to when I came back here is Greek Easter. A has told me a lot of amazing things that they did over the years, and he leaves me drooling each time.

DSC_1204A

This year, I was finally able to experience it and I couldn’t be any happier! 😉

I missed their huge Greek Easter celebration 2 years ago because work got in the way, and this year, A missed having dinner with his family in the apartment because of work…again. Haha

Delicious Greek food!!!!

This entry will also include a couple of snippets from New Jersey after Greek Easter.

Is it September yet?

Random heaps with the fambam

Hello, dolls!! 🙂 It feels so weird to be home on a Friday night. Usually by this time, my family and I are on our way to Quiapo church for our Friday tradition. It feels different, to be here in my apartment waiting for 10pm to come. But,I know it will feel a lot more different when I have to spend my Friday nights in the kitchen again in a few weeks. So this is me… missing home.

Being away is never going to be easy but I guess it’s just a matter of getting used to and embracing the beauty of my new life. Everyday I wake up and think how blessed I am to be here and how I should be strong and not let my emotions get in the way. So this is me…giving myself a pep talk  HAHA

DSCN0561

One of the things that I ultimately miss about home is having dinner with my family.

I like Korean food! I remember going to a couple of good Korean restaurants with my friends. Back then my family was still adamant about it. I am so glad that they finally gave it a try and LOVED IT!

Thank you, Sariwon!

12.22.13: Of hosting dinners

Hello, dolls!!! 🙂 We are only 3 days away from Valentine’s day and I am so excited!! I know most of you are looking forward on spending that lovely day with your special someone wink wink. I, on the other hand, is so thrilled to be with my favorite Vday dates — my parents!! My Dad has always made it special for me since..ever. I am planning to do something that I am good at for them this coming Friday…and I can’t wait to share it on this blog, hopefully SOON and not 3 months late.

For MZATC’s annual Christmas dinner, we had a “Coachella themed” party. Since we couldn’t all go to California, we brought Coachella to us…anyway we are just up for the dressing up part if ever we can so whatevs lol.I like themed dinners! It makes it easier for me to come up with a menu and cook more than 2 dishes.A  themed dinner will not be complete without dressing the part, that’s the second best thing about it — I get to dress up!. I’ve been crazy about hosting parties lately, and this is just one of the many rooftop parties that I will be sharing on this blog 🙂

#throwback: Cause it’ll be like this again. Wonderful memories in Charm City

12.31.2013: Happy New Year!!

Hello dolls!! 🙂 I can’t believe it’s been 4 days already since my last entry. So it’s been pleasantly cold in Manila lately, and my family and I are enjoying every bit of it! It seems like life is preparing us for that big vacay….and for my return to my second home next month! Yes, next month!!! Can you believe how fast time went by??? I am seriously still not ready to be away from my family again. But, I am just looking at all the beautiful sides of it, especially the fact that I know we will not be apart from each other for too long like the last time 🙂

For the holidays, I told myself that I will do something special for my family. And I couldn’t think of anything sweeter than to devote my time and show them the things that I learned for the past few years. I extended my Christmas present to them until New Year’s Eve, and spent my day in the kitchen. It wasn’t as stressful like Christmas Eve  but the gratifying feeling that I felt were just as amazing 🙂

My brother Renzo did our table set-up. He is the most helpful when I cook, and I really like having my favorite fatty near me during my crazy kitchen moments at home 🙂

12.25.2013: THE reason

Hello, dolls!!! 🙂 Here’s a little breather from my LOVE in MNL “series”. As promised, I am going to post a “recent for recent” entry/entries in between to speed things up a little, in the hopes that my blog will not look outdated or anything. This post is not going to be long cause I do not want to be late for our family’s “Friday tradition” 🙂

IMG_2603A

Made french toast for my family for our afternoon meal 🙂

It is a tradition in our home to have hot chocolate during the holidays. Our favorite brand is Antonio Pueo, t is quite difficult to find them now or some reason, but their tablea wrapped in gold packaging is the best!

I am really glad that I got to spend Christmas with my family this year 🙂

12.24.2013: Old Stories for the New Year

Hey dolls!!! Happy New Year! 🙂 So I meant to work on this blog yesterday (January 1st here in the Philippines) but since family comes first, I had to delay this for a little bit. But hey! It’s still January 1st somewhere, right?:) Anyway, so after this I will take another breather and work on our “day-2-in-Palawan-diaries” (cause this blog is just out of the rhythm like that).

1

I had an AMAZING first day of the year (told you my 2014 is going to be just as amazing as 2013!).

This status pretty much sums up my night, and I feel like it will be a better intro than me trying to find new words for a beautiful moment. I feel really blessed that I had the opportunity to listen to my Dad and his siblings’ childhood. All the stories were beautiful and moving that I find myself promising that I will do everything that I can to make each day for my family just as lovely as it is now. All my life I looked up to my Dad, but after last night, I feel like I can do so much more for him and give more. I feel like I am the luckiest daughter for having him as my Dad <3

IMG_2438-tile

My Dad is the most generous person that I met, and Christmas here at home is not complete without seeing boxes and boxes and boxes of presents.

These are just 1/3 of the presents, and every year my Dad would giveaway these beautiful calendars straight from China.

12.24.13: The rock and roll Christmas

Hello, dolls!!!! 🙂 We are only a few hours away from kissing 2013 a sweet goodbye! 🙂 So before I get too caught up with my agenda for tonight (Holiday Kitchen Lovin 2.1 y’all) let me do one last entry for the last day of the year! 🙂 It has been an amazing 2013, and I think I have expressed it a lot on this blog (and if not enough, here I am again for the last time this year). 2012 was the beginning of the beauty of 2013, 2014 will be just as amazing and even more cause God has never failed to surprise me with bigger and greater things each time.

I find myself wondering sometimes what I did to deserve all these — my beautiful family, my love Argerios, my family in the US, my passion for cooking and travelling, friends and everyone/everything around me that reminds me of His love for all of us. I am beyond blessed and I have another 365 days to love, inspire and give meaning to.

To you all who visits my blog and puts a smile on my face, Happy New Year!!! Let’s all keep inspiring one another <3

Our home all lit up for the Holiday Season.

We are still in the middle of renovation BUT I couldn’t be any more proud and grateful to my parents, most especially my Dad,for helping us make all our dreams come true. For not only giving us a beautiful home, but a big happy and loving family that we can go home to <3

2013

12.31.12: Crossed out

A New Year is an opportunity to start fresh on life, to tell yourself to be a better version of you for the next 365 days, and to let the whole world that you exist. I am not perfect and so is my life. It’s funny how people would give me that look once I start blabbing about the miseries in my life. But, as what I always preach about – there is beauty in pain. I’m the kind of person who doesn’t dwell with the negativity of life, whatever situation I am at.

New Year’s Eve 2013 was really different for most of us. For me, I am used to a home full of people that I love. We welcome the New Year with loud firecrackers and beautiful fireworks with hot chocolate on our dinner table. This year, I started the year by crossing out one thing on my bucket list and then it was followed by craziness, loud music and good company.

Christmas 2012

12.25.12: First American Christmas

I have been blessed with a lot of opportunities again lately. Life has unfolded answers that I have been seeking for the past few months and I am just too overwhelmed with how God has been showing me how amazing my life is – every single waking day. Excitement is overpowering my entire soul. All I know is, I have my fingers crossed and my prayers and hope are getting stronger each day. Let this be it – I tell myself.

Anyways, I do not want this to be another sappy post about me not having my family beside me during the holidays. I feel like, I should look forward to what’s ahead of me instead of looking back to my not-s-good days. So yeah, I am looking forward to this coming Christmas, cause by all means – I will do everything that I can to be with my family 🙂

Christmas ’12: First Snow

12.24.12: Too much firsts in one day

I can’t believe how time just stabbed me in the back. I feel like I am just a blink away from the life that I have lived in for 20 years. Being here for a year made me realize how much I want to work hard to attain everything that I aspire for – as an individual, daughter, sister and a rightful person to be in someone’s future. My head is wrapped around the thought of me pursuing a future that is relevant to what is happening now. Sacrifices has to be made again and all I know is, if everything goes into plan, in God’s time – it will all be worth it.

202015_242016299263354_1872747566_o1

A lot has happened that day. Playing in the snow was the mid-part of our first December 24,2012 in the States.

It would’ve been more fun and memorable if my siblings were with me. The excitement of my first snow experience just passed too quickly because my siblings were in my head the whole time. Somedaaaay.
