Korean Spa and Everything In Between

Hello, sweets! Whew what a cold snowy week this is! It’s one snow day to another, I guess I will be waking up to the sight of snow on our porch until the end of the week 😐 Uhhh we are just so over with winter…I am seriously counting the days until it’s spring again. This cold weather (and crazy schedule) is making me eat every chocolate that I see, being surrounded with tons of chocolate here at home and at work is not helping my “bride” diet!!! (although let’s face, I have not really payed attention to my diet since December) — I just like to say it para I’ll sound like a legit bride-to-be hahaha

One of the best things about my relationship with A is our cookbook collection.

We both had a good number of books before we met each other, and our collection started growing in 2012 because we would often give each other books on special occasions. Now that we are engaged, we now call all of our books “ours”, which makes me so happy because it has always been a dream of mine to own all the great cookbooks out there.

An exceptional day is when you cross off 3 books from our wishlist.

Washington DC: The Girl (03.11)

03.11.14: Picture Perfect Kind of Day

Hello, dolls!!! I am so ecstatic right now, April is just amazing to me. First and foremost, A and I are just 12 days away from celebrating our second year together and I just can’t sit here and hide my excitement cause I know it is going to be ah-mah-zing! Second, I am only a few months away from hugging my family again!!! I can’t wait to travel with them again and be crazy with the sibs again. Lastly, I just accomplished something for school yesterday!! It really is happening!! One of the things that I promised myself when I got into Culinary school is to study abroad — and I am finally a sheer month away from crossing that off my list! 🙂

It’s been a while since my last outfit post. I mean, let’s face it friends, I am not too good at it. LOL

But yeah, I will tryyyyy my very best to make each post worthwhile.

If there is anything that I can’t give up from my closet, that would be this H&M jacket.

I remember it as my first splurge after being here for only a week 2 years ago. I just can’t help it, the soft pink color and the gold buttons (I have this thing about gold buttons).

Anghelica’s

Hello dolls and hello APRIL!!! It’s official, A and I are only days away from celebrating our second anniversary. The weather is getting nicer now and I am just hoping that our anniversary weekend will be as good as last year’s. Anyway, one of the things that I am missing terribly is authentic Filipino food. It’s so weird cause I am not really the kind of Filipino who requests for Pinoy food every week, when I was still home I would often suggest Japanese,Chinese, Thai, Mediterranean, European or Italian food when we go out. BUT one thing that I could not resist are Filipino Desserts! I cannot go a week without having my kakanin or ube fix. And I must say, I go gaga over ube.

IMG_0918

Best ube dessert I had!!!

Uhhhh why can’t I just have this now??? Whyyyy!!?!?

IMG_0919

The person behind this amazing ube leche flan cake is probably the nicest and coolest Chef that I know. And I am not only saying this cause she understands my kaartehan BUT because she really is amazing like that.

Two of the best Filipino desserts in one?? YES PLEASE!

I wish I have a better photo of this heavenly delight when I ordered the first time, but my family just massacred this thing  after I opened the box. It was toooo good!!!

IMG_3883A

I am such a fan. I can’t sit and  just look at her posts on Facebook when she launched her “Dulce Queso Mamon and Smore’s”.

It’s such a shame cause Chef Ann just came up with another dessert and I am like 1 million miles away from the Philippines!! 😐 I swear when I get back I am going to order the biggest ube leche flan cake and the new baby!! 🙂

April May 2013: A roundup of randomness

I know… I KNOW, I haven’t been fair to this blog, especially to you readers. I have failed to deliver and make this page as exciting as it was. But despite of my absence, I am really grateful of everyone who has been visiting my blog. My daily stats never went down to zero and I have gained a few dolls on my followers list. So thaaaaank you everyone! <3 🙂

Anyway, I have been contemplating about life deeply for the past few days. The girls and I spent a lovely sleepover this past weekend and it has opened my heart into expressing the thoughts and feelings that I have kept inside, towards my life here in Manila.

It is disappointing to feel like a tourist when I step out of our home. To choose to be on the other side of the world than to be here. I have been very bold when it comes to my family and how they affect my choices in life. But one thing that gets into me is how the people that doesn’t know anything can say so much just for the sake of…speaking. It disturbs me how someone can just make my life his/her business, when they haven’t done anything but to be a professional stalker. My life was an open book before, it’s like a portfolio for some, just waiting to be turned and exposed. God knows how devastated I was and how I struggled just to be who I am now… happy, contented, blessed, loved, and existing.

Existing, yes. I remember when I was still in college, our Logic Professor talked about “life”, he mentioned that “to live is to exist”, and that thought is stuck on my head ever sinceHe said, you make yourself exist by living, by doing things that will make you live, and by doing things, that’s when you exist. A few years after, I realized that I should try to exist and live to have my own identity in this world. So I prayed and told Him, I want to feel good about myself, and be great at something. It took me 2 years to be blessed with such…and I am telling you, it was worth the wait.

So yeah, it still breaks my heart every time I think about my decisions in life. But see, God blessed me with something big and we all know how sacrifices work in our lives. Nothing great comes easy. It’s sad that the thing that made me feel great is at the other side of the world. In just a span of 1 year, I was able to learn a lot and hear the most motivating and flattering compliments from people who are highly-skilled, Top Chefs if I must say. I never thought that I can be that person, and it’s such a shame how I didn’t feel the same appreciation when I got back (aside from my family). Anyway, in a few months I will do what I love the most again and feel great. And be able to make my family proud (again and again and again) and be mum about it (again). “Let them wonder why you’re smiling” , as they say.

This welcomed me earlier 🙁 I can’t believe that the browser that I have been using for the past 2 years (I think) is retiring!!! I spent almost half an hour transferring my bookmarks and jotting down my saved passwords. #hassle

WEEK 1: Finally

1

First official week highlight: A trip to the salon.

It has been 15 months since I last had my hair cut and treated. I had the driest hair in Manila!! I felt guilty after seeing almost 4 inches of hair on the floor 🙁 All for the love of…beauty! Haha 🙂

Week 2 highlight: T Love

Met up with my college friends, Caloy and LA! <3 🙂

I forgot small servings here in Manila are…and how overpriced they are in unworthy restaurants! I don’t even know how to start with the VERY VERY VERY small shrimp that was served in my brother’s Alfredo pasta 🙁

Cross Street Market

03.11.13 – Early For Spring

Hey Dolls! It has been exactly a week since I last posted an entry, and I am glad that my words  has found its way to the rhythm of normalcy.  I hope it lasts though. Haha. Anyway, as what I have said before, I want the last 2 months of my beautiful journey in the beautiful city where I fell in love in to be shared in a different phase until I see my happiness again… in 130 days to be exact! Different dates will be thrown in once in a while, a bit jumbled up if I may say but I will still make sure that it’ll be worth the read, just like what I try to aim every time I write. So here’s another beautiful memory to write about.. a day that is blessed with the bright sun guiding us to see beautiful things, and photos that preserves our memories of how lovely that day was.

DSCN7673

It’s such a shame that it took me a year to know what’s inside this building. I always see it every time we go on a night out with the girls but I never truly cared to ask what it has to offer. And boo, I keep on shaking my head still for not asking sooner! Cross Street Market is the kind of place that I like to go to on a casual and laid back day!

DSCN7674

IMG_5581

It has all kinds of food that I couldn’t eat near our apartment! At least, good food with fresh ingredients if I may add. They have food stalls of home-cooked Asian food, desserts that made my mouth melt and FRESH seafood that I can’t buy in the groceries nearby!

IMG_5577

First stop: Bruce Lee Wings!

Reminded me of Bon Chon and Chicken Charlie!  It was sooooo good it took me straight to chicken land!

IMG_5578

Second: Oishi Teriyaki for some carbs! :))

Shrimp Yakisoba x Bruce Lee Wings = HEAAAAVEN!

Last Stop: Nick’s Samurai Sushi Bar

Since we really really want to go to Wasabi again, but we want to save it for a special day and with special people, we’ve decided that our last meal for lunch should be sushi!

OOTD:

Since it was a nice sunny day I’ve decided to wear a print that can welcome Spring (though I am 9 days early) and colors that are light in the eyes. I like how soft it looks in the sun and how perfect it is on a nice afternoon date. 🙂

Wore boots during our stroll so I can last walking for hours without complaining and tights to save me from the cold breeze of air! Haha

Mama’s On The Half Shell

03.10.13 – Those kind of nights

Have you ever been in a situation wherein you felt hopeless and emotionally tired? And the only thing you held onto is the little faith that you have in your heart? I almost lost my grip a few days ago. But  God has amazingly touched my life again and used the people that I love to help me get through something that made my life move into a better phase. When God uses the people that I love to get closer to Him, my soul gets nurtured in a different way. It’s like He gave a new meaning to the word “amazing”. So I spent half of my day thanking Him, and the other half by appreciating my family and friends more. Mother’s day is just around the corner, but the photos below will not transcend to it so I will just let the single word from the title above commemorate my Mom,and how grateful I am for the support that she has given me yesterday. I wouldn’t get through it without her, just like every single day.

He rarely goes home from work early..especially on a weekend. So when he does,we like to celebrate with nothing else but foooood <3 🙂

Charm City

03.08.13: Hello Alexis

It is somewhat unusual that I post 2 entries in a day. But since productivity and jet lag doesn’t fall into one category in my life right now, I am stuck in my bed most of the time doing whatnot’s while waiting for the only person that can keep me sane in this time of misery. Just like the luggage’s that I have yet to unpack (yes people I am taking my sweet time) my desktop is still a clutter that I have yet to slowly sort. Truth be told, I am in no rush in blabbing about my last 2 months in the city that I fell in love in cause I feel like the words will slowly make the memories slip away. And as much as I want to wait until we see each other again,  we all know that life doesn’t slow down and time doesn’t stop.
