September 2014: Hello again, Manila!
Hello dolls!!! 🙂 Aaaah, Manila! It’s almost a week since we’ve been home and about 2 weeks left until our big day! If there’s a chance for me to stop or slow down time, now would be the perfect time to do so. A and I have been taking afternoon naps because of jet lag, not that it is important, but it’s something that we have not done before! RELAX and not worry about work the next day. Although I must admit, my decision is kind of making me nervous about the first 3 months of my return to Baltimore. Ugggh. Why do I have to overthink everything?
Manila means food tripping everyday for A and I. Whether it be home or somewhere A would get stared at haha. I am only have a few posts left from our trip here in Manila last year, and I hope I could finish all of it before I say I do.
Before A and I would go on a trip, we would make a list of ALL the things/places that we want to do/go to.
Being a person who makes lists on almost everything, this has been really effective for us. The deal is to go out for lunch and check one thing off our list, then come home for dinner with family. Easy.
One of the places that A wanted to go to last year was Lugang Cafe.
It’s a restaurant by Bellagio Group based out of Shanghai and Beijing. Lugang Cafe specializes in authentic Chinese cuisine. (more…)
Hello, sweets!! It’s December again, the most wonderful time of the year for everyone, but for A and I… it’s the most exhausting time of the year! I am starting to feel the sappy aura of Christmas here again and the huge difference between December here and in Manila. December here does not feel like December.Everyone wishes for a white Christmas, but with Christmas comes COLD. Cold weather for everyone and the cold lonely feeling for those who are away from their families…like me.
At home, I always look forward to my birthday because I know after that everyone will make it a point that we will be complete for dinner every night for the month of December. December is the ultimate family month for us, but now…. as much as I want to, I would rather cross out dinner on my daily routine. The first week of December was pretty nice because A’s parents were here, I wish they could stay longer. My motivation for the coming days is Christmas Eve and Christmas Day! I can’t wait to go to New Jersey and spend time with the family!
I am starting to miss A…and how we could have lunch together at least 3 times a week. Lately, I am lucky if I get to see him in the morning.
So tonight, I want to remember all the sweet apartment lunch dates that we had during spring.
When life was still warm and lovely.
Back when I had extra time to go through our cookbooks and try at least one recipe every week. I, of course did something from the Milk Bar cookbook. (more…)
Hello, sweets!!! 🙂 In a couple of hours I will be celebrating my first bridal shower!!Aaaah I am so excited!!! So the past 2 weeks has been really fun for us here at the apartment because A’s parents are staying with us. I get really happy when we have company over because I am used to a house filled with craziness (4 kids doing silly stuff and parents trying to keep it together haha). —– okay, I did it again! Things got out of hand here (in a good way) so I was not able to finish this entry on Friday. I thought it’s still a good intro so whatevs… it is what it is as my MIL likes to say! haha
So I had an amazing and unforgettable weekend. I can’t believe that I am officially a bride to be!!!!!! Again, I can’t wait to share with you all about my breathtaking bridal shower but for now…let’s do summer posts first!
A in his zone.
Instant noodle heaven. Though I do not allow him to eat more than 2 packs every week, cause it’s not healthy! haha
I am blogging about this now because the in laws are here. It reminds me of the days that we would drive up to New Jersey to spend time with them and get away from all the craziness here in Baltimore. This year, we discovered a new “to go” place for us. Asian City Restaurant, one of the best Chinese restaurants we’ve been here in the US. (more…)
Hello, dolls! Hello, December!!! <3 Aaah, can you believe it?? It’s the last month of the year!!! So I had a very lovely birthday weekend, thanks to A and our families for giving me a memorable 24th birthday! 🙂 This weekend has reminded me of how blessed I am and how beautiful life is. It’s no different from how I feel everyday, but this weekend was major! I can’t stop thanking Him for everything, because I know I wouldn’t get to this point in my life without Him.
Anyway, so I still have a gazillion things to post before my awesome birthday weekend. So I will work on my throwbacks and squeeze in my birthday posts once in a while ( I mean you know the drill, right? haha). Since I am still gushing about my birthday dinner with A, I thought of working on an entry that is quite similar to that — date night with A!
“One must maintain a little bit of summer, even in the middle of winter” – Henry David Thoreau
I am very fortunate that I have a man who would take me out on special dates even though we are not celebrating anything in particular.
We are celebrating life as we like to put it.
The Milton Inn is a well known restaurant here in Baltimore. It is a 274 year old fieldstone building, so imagine my face when A and I walked in. It was gorgeous and everything reminded us of BCC. From the food to the service and the decors. (more…)
Hello, sweets!!! 🙂 Today I am going to write about the continuation of our engagement shoot. Unlike my previous post, this won’t be extra cheesy and it will mostly cover food. It’s hard for A and I to go out on a date and not make food the highlight.Planning the engagement shoot was very exciting for us, so I will also add a little extra to this post and show you snippets of the things that we did prior to the event. I don’t know if I can ever top my New York Engagement Shoot post, I mean WOW! The traffic that I got and overwhelming messages from everyone made my heart melt. And I guess it’s safe to say…… donnnnn’t goooo! Hahaha!
Want to be inspired? Read my blog about our Engagement Shoot before you scroll down http://riannagalvez.wordpress.com/2014/10/22/new-york-engagement-shoot/
New York is not only about the fast phased lifestyle and glamorous outfits. It’s the concrete jungle, and one must be an animal to fully see what New York is all about.
Don’t just go to 5th Ave or Times Square. Do get lost, ask New Yorkers, and don’t be afraid! Try the food carts parked on the streets and go to a beautiful restaurant with an amazing view. Stare at the subway map. Ladies, look at the shoes that New Yorkers wear.
Don’t be a tourist, be a traveler.
A gets excited when he sees the word “noodles”. He saw the logo of this restaurant and asked Pat if he can take pictures outside this restaurant.
I almost died laughing, but let’s be honest I found it cute that he spoke up. The engagement shoot is more of a woman’s thing and the fact that he cooperated and wanted something for the two of us made me so happy.
Anyway, we can’t have a picture outside this restaurant and not eat here.
10.05.13: Good Morning, Birthday Boy 🙂
Hello, dolls! 🙂 3 years ago, October to me was just the month before my birthday, or my Mom’s birthday month, but since her birthday falls on the first week of October, I deliberately forget the month’s essence right after.. HA. Tomorrow is A’s birthday, and before I get anxious about my birthday surprise for him, I will share with you snippets from his birthday last year. I don’t know how I will be able to top his food adventure filled celebration in Hong Kong but thank heavens for giving me 3 days to give him a memorable one this year. Hint: we will be away from Baltimore again!!! (yay!)
Good Morning, Hong Kong! Good Morning, Birthday Boy!!! <3
Can I wake up in Asia again? Soon?
First Stop for A’s Birthday: Harbour City
This mall is too gorgeous for words! All the good stores (and when I say good, I mean high-end designer brands) are here…but since our Hong Kong trip was all about food, I had to stop myself from dragging A to stores that will take our time from visiting restaurants.Don’t worry, he gave me all the time in the world during our recent trip to Bangkok! 🙂
The main reason why we went to Harbour City, Laduree. (more…)
10.03.2013: I’m getting used to this
Hello, dolls!!! 🙂 So I thought of posting an entry before I leave for MNL, cause I know I will be taking tons of pictures back home — OMG I can’t wait to be with my family again I can’t hide my excitement!!!! Here’s the second part of our 3rd day in Hong Kong, another food adventure entry that makes me miss Hong Kong — and more excited about our upcoming trip! I know this is almost a year late, but it still feels like it was only yesterday when A and I discovered a lot of amazing food spots in Hong Kong.
And in case you haven’t read these entries yet, click the links below to have a glimpse of how our first 3 days in HK went.
After our Stanley/Repulse Bay short trip, we went to Central,Hong Kong to go to one of the restaurants on our list.
It doesn’t have an English name and we only had the address, so no “name dropping” as they say.
But to have an idea of what this restaurant is like, here’s one of the things that A got…… a roasted pigeon.
10.03.14: The “no idea” moments
Hello, dolls!!! 🙂 I can’t believe that I am VERY close to seeing my family again!! In less than a week I will be flying back to MNL (OMG!!) I can’t hide my excitement! My family and I planned so much for my homecoming and I must say, there will be a lot of plane rides for A and I for our upcoming 3 week vacation. It’s pretty similar to what happened last year when A came to the Philippines to visit me — a lot of cooking, eating, and traveling. Maybe I waited a little bit too long to post our Hong Kong trip, or maybe not. Its nice to look back and remember all the things that we did during our week long adventure at a place that he’s been wanting to visit since…ever.
Hong Kong has always been a shopping trip for me until A and I went. We did so many different things that I wouldn’t normally put in my itinerary.
One of which is to take an hour and a half shuttle ride going to Repulse Bay and see a different side of Hong Kong..
Hello, dolls!! 🙂 I thank the #TBT gods for gracing us Thursday for throwbacks, the day that is “quite” okay for me to post an entry that is at least 2 months old. “Quite” cause I know I should be doing a better job in updating my page. My goal for this blog this year is to be up to date with everything and have no entries that is more than a month old wish me luck. The amount of entries that I have yet to post is not getting any smaller, but I am getting close to bringing this page up to date so yea, I have 5 months!!! 😉
Anyway, I have always been excited about embracing new traditions and one of the things that I looked forward to when I came back here is Greek Easter. A has told me a lot of amazing things that they did over the years, and he leaves me drooling each time.
This year, I was finally able to experience it and I couldn’t be any happier! 😉
I missed their huge Greek Easter celebration 2 years ago because work got in the way, and this year, A missed having dinner with his family in the apartment because of work…again. Haha
Delicious Greek food!!!!
This entry will also include a couple of snippets from New Jersey after Greek Easter.
Hello, sweethearts! 🙂 I hope you are all enjoying my “LOVE in MNL” posts! It’s been a while since I last did this, but I would like to say… THANK YOU to everyone who followed my blog these past couple of days, and those who regularly views my page 🙂 Never did I imagine that I will get more than 200 WordPress followers, and readers outside WordPress, and from all over the world for that matter! 🙂
Anyway, remember how I said I tried my best to stay away from Asian food when he got here? Well that didn’t happen lol. A loves Asian food so much, and for his first 24 hours here, all he kept on talking about is how he can’t wait to eat delicious Chinese food. I tried so hard to convince him to just wait until we get to Hong Kong BUT his beautiful eyes just kept on asking for it. So wish granted! 🙂 Besides, the least thing that I can do (or maybe the best) for someone who flew 8554 miles for me is to satisfy his Asian cravings.
Tocilog for his breakfast. Very pinoy! 🙂
I will try to include his breakfasts in my posts. Cause I am happy that he was able to try different kinds of foods every morning (thanks to my Dad) and caaaause I love breakfast! Haha
We were originally supposed to go to TWG for lunch, but since like I said earlier, his eyes were too convincing that I just decided to S it up! lol
It took us a couple of minutes to decide where to go..but when he saw Mongkok’s dim sum cart he just turned into this super “f”Asian mood!
